“It was really crowded and we were a party of 13. Only nine people were able to sit at one table. One server told the other 4 to sit at the other table, which we did. Then a woman came and tried to get 1 of us to move to the other table, but we are all on the same ticket, so it didn't make sense for us to split up. She said I'll do it this time, but next time, we can't. It was crazy because the other party sitting at that table was only 4 people and an infant. So why go through all of that hassle when it was unnecessary? The food was delicious but I don't think that they give you enough rice.”

A++ Old review- I wanted to give a 5 star but it’s a hit or miss place lately. I order pizza and garlic knots nearly every Saturday and it seems every other Saturday there must be a different cook. This past Saturday & 2 weeks before, the pizza was nearly burnt. Kind of crazy because we had to wait an extra 10 minutes after they said it would be ready. Which is no big deal if I’m getting a good pizza. It was midday and there was no one in the restaurant eating, so it wasn’t like they were busy. Seemed like a totally different crew. When it’s cooked correctly it’s delicious.”

Service was so good that three different people asked me if I was ready to order, so my guess would also be they share tips bc everyone is involved and it didn't seem like any one person had a designated table. Let's dive in about the food Chips: solid Mexican restaurant free chips 8/10 Salsa: Same as the chip. Solid but not extraordinary 8/10 I ordered the combination plate #26, which was one burrito, one enchilada, and one chile relleno . Burrito and enchilada 8/10. I mean, let's face it a burrito and enchilada are virtually the same except for the wrapper. That being said, the ground beef inside was seasoned nicely and had a good flavor. Red sauce on top had a nice flavor as well. Chile relleno 9/10. Lots of cheese (definitely not a complaint) and filling was good. (I will be honest, I actually thought there were refried beans inside, but when I referred to the menu, it says meat. Either way, it was good) Free little dessert at the end 10/10. I don't usually get dessert, but I would assume this was a mini version of sopapillas. Two fried tortilla pieces with cinnamon and sugar, whipped cream, and strawberry drizzle. A nice and delightful suprise as I was not expecting it. I would say the best word for Monte De Rey is "solid." While I didn't get anything off the lunch special menu, it was vast and priced well. At the time of writing this, my combo platter was 9.99, and soda (with free refill) was 2.19. I will definitely be back to continue trying other dishes.”

My daughter got chocolate chip pancakes that had no business being so good and I tried a variety of things. (Bologna for breakfast? Sure! Grits? Sounds like a requirement! Chunks?! Let's do it I guess- it turns out they're just breakfast potatoes 😆) Everything was good and our entire bill was $14. My plate at a chain diner would have been $14 alone.”

“I was a little unsure about this place since it changed ownership, but after visiting for the second time, I'm pleased! The sushi selection is smaller compared to the previous ownership, but it is still good. The nigiri portions are generous and you can ask to have rolls deep fried for an extra dollar. I can't speak for the hibachi, as I only ever get sushi here, but I'm happy with it. The waitstaff has been very kind and hospitable both times, as well. “I visited here on 1/22/21 around 9:15pm solely to use the bathroom. The bathroom was somewhat dirty. You couldnt use the paper towels, there was tissue on the floor, and there was water bottles around the toilet. While I was leaving and taking pictures, I heard the cashier and a customer talking about the mega millions jackpot, which there is a drawing tonight and the jackpot is $1 billion! I don’t think imma win, at all... but hey, if I don’t play, I’ll 100% won’t win. I bought 5 tickets lol. They are $2 a piece. This is the first time I’ve ever played the lottery besides scratch off tickets. The location is a quick detour off the highway. The cashier was not wearing a mask, but he was behind the clear plastic screen, so I guess it makes it better ? 🤷♂️ Gas is $2.23 for regular, $2.83 for plus, and $3.03 doe V-Power Nitro”

“What did I like? Just about everything. Polite & prompt table service - JUST THE WAY IT SHOULD BE. Had Crab 🦀 Dip for the appetizer & very tasty. Also tried draft - local beers on tap. Scallops- blackened w pasta was great. And the scallops on skewers with side of street corn - very good. The street corn had a lot of crema on it, not for me, but glad I tried it. And - yes the do dads hanging from the ceiling & pictures on the walls was very nice. Great hang out.”
