“Going from NY it wasn't much of a surprise to see the lights and decorated houses but it was a fun time to be with family. Be prepared to be waiting in traffic to enter this town for at least 1 hour and half, cars move really slow and stop frequently to take pictures. The ideal would be to walk through the streets of the town but I don't really know how easy would it be to find parking close to the attractions.”

“Great place to escape the city only 25 minutes from Uptown Charlotte. Hiking and Biking trails. River access is very nice to put canoes and kayaks in and out of river. It is a good hike to river, better put in than take out, as itvis downhill all the way to river. 1.5 mile downstream from park, there is McAdenville Dam. Dam is just downstream, below McAdenville access, Portage across river on river left. Stay away from dam. Take out on river right just past interstate bridge is a great option instead of portaging. If you portage, next access is Goat Island Park in Cramerton.”

“Events in downtown Belmont are always fun! Stowe park is the center of all the activities. Beautiful park, gazebos, public restrooms, walking trails, water fountain, lush plants, historic trees and statues. A little bit of everything can be found here.”

“The Botanical garden is an amazing place to visit. The orchid conservatory is always my first stop to see what’s blooming. Lots of orchids and tropical everywhere. They’ve done a great job with the garden so their is always tons blooming. Recommend going to the garden in the late fall when the Monarch Butterflies are stocking up in nectar before their migration. Probably one of the few places that you can see them anymore. Apart from the main garden they have natural walking trails in the back with native flora. Great spot to see hummingbirds and other native wild life.”

“Details: I really liked this hiking trail! There were certain details I wish I had known before I had gotten there. I walk with a cane… These trails are very doable! If you have bad balance the hills might be a bit much. There is no bathroom. I’m all for going in the woods, but you have to be careful as it’s pretty crowded at times and people pop up out of nowhere. Also people’s homes are in view which is a bit discouraging. I prefer more isolated hiking places. There are benches every half mile or so. Wear shoes that can stand some mud and be ready for clomping around a lot of mud pits if it rained within the last day or two. Overall very rewarding hike!”

“Neat construction of the playground equipment using what looked to be the tree’s that were removed to make way for the grounds. They have the stumps that are (somewhat) safe for the kids to climb and a nice reminder of what was there in order to make way for the playground. The grounds are fenced which is GREATLY appreciated for our 2 year old who is hard to keep up with at times. Beautiful views of the river as well as the train track bridge just off in the distance. Grounds were immaculate, all trash and recycle was emptied and properly maintained.”
