“This is a nice park with the lake and two playground sets. It has lots of tables and benches to eat lunch. It was very windy on one side of the lake but not windy on the other side. I came to this park before and I really enjoy it. It has a trail around the lake and in one spot there’s a mailbox where people can leave encouraging messages for others. When we arrived there were carriages with horses. I wonder what they were doing there. The lady was very nice and let us pet her horse.”

“Great place right off the highway! We stopped here for one night on our way from Michigan to Myrtle Beach and it met our needs! We stayed on the full hook ups up front so I can't comment on the bath house. Great views of Pilot Mountain! Owner was extremely helpful and friendly! The campground dogs were a treat as well!”

“One of the best kid's parks is close to my house, and I love going there with my two-year-old, who likes to swing and slide around. Very pleasant view, and you can enjoy feeding the ducks and geese that come around to say hello.”

“Needed a place to stay for one night as we were passing through in our camper conversion van. Todd was very nice and accommodating. Campground is very peaceful and beautiful with green rolling hills, a pond and ducks. Clean bath/showers with HOT water. Will definitely stay here again if ever in the area.”

“Excellent little pocket 🏞️ park near Northwest Boulevard and downtown. The park is narrow with walking trails, picnic areas, two playgrounds, park benches, grills, green space and more. There is also ♿ handicap accessible parking nearby and two different access points.”

“Feb. 2022, our 2nd stay in the Uwharrie National Forest, another small campground with electricity but no water at the individual sites, spigots around the campground. We were in loop C, site 72. Most of the camp sites had picnic table and firepit at the rear of the site, not along the side, which we found a little odd. Great trails nearby, although it was about a mile to the lake and the trailheads. Nice, big bathhouse with very hot water! While in generally good repair the bathhouse could use some fresh paint and a little TLC. Very friendly camp host who had free firewood for us. Lots of down trees and evidence of fire as we drove into the Forest, and saw the same along the hiking trails, which were well graded and marked. Some great views along the trails. Overall a great campground.”

“Walked almost all the trails this morning. Lovely 3+ miles. Unfortunately not at all accessible, as trails are dirt and the wooded trails are very heavily covered with roots and divots, but easily navigated by folks without mobility issues. Well marked and lovely to look at. Parking was very full when we left at about 12:15 so recommend going earlier in the mornings if possible for you.”

“We did the Clayton Sculpture Trail today. There’s plenty of places nearby to park and we just followed the online map & walked around the area. Great way to visit Clayton downtown.”

“The actual park is a little bit of a walk from the parking area. There isn't any signage either. There is a sidewalk leading there, though. It is well shaded, but there isn't much grass. It's mostly dirt and sand; I wouldn't suggest taking your puppy here after it's rained. The people and dogs I've met here have been very friendly. It was a great place for my 3 huskies to run and play when we lived in the area. Lastly, there are water fountains there for pups to have a drink after playing hard. Be a good pet parent and clean up after them, please. 😉”

“Great paved path, they say 1/2 mile. I say maybe a 1/2 mile (maybe little less). Great for dog walking! There is a dog park, but we don’t use them. Clean open rest rooms when we were there in Jan. Fitness park - looks interesting! Will go again!”

“Wonderful natural area!!! Opened in the fall of 2022 this is a well planned, well thought out and maintained natural area that was probably once a Pope family farm. My wife and I have been to almost every park and recreational area (with our dogs) in Orange county, but this is a stand out!! It is one of the best places for a quiet, peaceful, easy hike with the dogs. Open fields, pond, old barns, cemetery, woods and graveled road, all well marked, not muddy or hilly. Not to mention, a port-o-John and garbage can! Many other trails in the area have narrow, rooted, technically difficult paths, NOT HERE! There is a map (take a photo of it) and post card at the visitors barn. Well done owner and volunteers!! And thank you for preserving this wonderful piece of nature. We will be frequent visitors. If you bring your dogs, please pick up after them and be careful they don’t eat coyote poop!”

“Quiet small park on the confluence of Sawyer Creek and the Pasquotank River with a pavilion, fishing pier and benches to take in the fantastic views. Two biking/hiking trails are challenging within the tightly packed woods. Definitely a hidden gem.”

“Been doing hunts with Tony for 13 years. Nicest guy you'll ever meet. Reasonable price...the more you miss the more you walk. Most guides just move on when birds get away, that's money in the wind. Tony gets after'em. Don't show up with a semi that won't cycle!! Great dogs. Action packed fun with a gun.”

“It is a small town park. A good place to take smaller kids. It has a few things they can play on .it is a safe place to go because it is monitored 24 hours a day by police because they have cameras at the park. It has some benches you can sit on as well. It is a small town park but you can enjoy the beautiful weather out there.”

“Super cool playground! My son always enjoys playing here abs running all around in between the two playgrounds. The main playground has that awesome triple slide that a few other playgrounds have. Has a half dozen different creative ways to climb up to the higher level. There’s a picnic shelter, sand beach volleyball court, basketball courts, tennis courts, and a paved trail through the woods. Really enjoyable park!”
