“Really enjoyed our walk today. The trails are nice, clean and paths are clear for the most part. There were several fallen branches, but my kids had fun picking them up and I'm sure the runners were appreciative of that. Scenery is always beautiful in the Metro Parks and we were able to capture some of it.”

“What a lovey little ride in the neighborhood. Ride as long or short as your heart desires. Took the Momentum Pakaway on its maiden ride and it was a great 10 miles. The trail has alternating sun and shade, water fountains, little bathrooms, and relaxation spots. What more can you ask for?!”

“A wonderful nature setting. This realm offers plenty. There are three different trails that wind you through gardens and wooded areas. The Fernwood trail has informational plaques describing native trees. Stop and check out Echo and Seneca ponds. There's also a suspension bridge which is quite nice. My favorite time is spring when it's not as hot and the gardens are blooming.”

“Great trail to bring pets on as well as bikes. The trail isn't paved but it's almost a sand rock. Only downfall is if there is rain, part of the trail (if you take a side leg) can be flooded but it drains fairly quickly. Also a nice spot to relax by the water on those hotter days.”

“Such a calm, serene and beautiful place to relax in nature and take in fresh air. The lake here is stunning as well. There's so many activities from archery to disc golf and essentially anything else outdoors related. If you want a place to clear your mind and get away, come see Portage Lakes State Park for yourself.”

“Gorgeous mansion built for entertaining and impressing guests. A lot like a castle. No expense was spared. Finished in 1916. All modern amenities. Oooooh the beautiful wood everywhere. No spoilers but be sure to find the built in pool, check out the organ and hear it, marvel at the kitchen and other servants areas around it, read about the eagle in the great hall and most of all ask the hosts and hostesses questions about the place, furnishings and the family. They really are knowledgeable and passionate about making sure everyone enjoys their day visiting. Yeah, the grounds are worth seeing all the different gardens and flora, a green house, carriage house just so much.”

“I had never been to this park, so we decided to not do the longest path. The path is rated "difficult". That seems appropriate. We took our time, the path was well marked. There were a few, but very few, signs of Spring. There was one area that holly trees were present providing a bit of encouraging green. There was also an area where wild rose was prevalent. Otherwise, there were a few small animals like chipmunks, squirrels, a few assorted various songbirds. The two things that stood out to me were a number of path areas were covered with sand to facilitate drainage and to avoid muddy patches and also a lot of drainage cuts made on the inclines to again facilitate drainage. The path was mostly well cared for and clear of debris. There was one low area that we had to cross a shallow stream. I would suggest taking a walking stick along to cross it and to maintain your balance on the steeper declines of the path. Keep in mind that I am in good physical condition, but I turn 67 tomorrow. Younger people passed us up and they kept up a quicker pace. So, keep this in mind as you read this review. Our visit to Hampton was late March 2021. Enjoy!”

“Perfect place to take your best friend! Everyone I've seen there are welcoming, friendly, energetic, and have well mannered humans 🤣. Three large fenced playgrounds for small, medium, and large dogs (usually med. & large play in same area) with water access, trash cans, and baggies. There are woods and railroad tracks to wander for a couple miles on the left side, 1/2 mile of open field on the right, 3 trails (each over 4 miles) you can walk, plus both the Cuyahoga & Little Cuyahoga rivers run through it.”

“One of my all-time favorite parks local to northeast Ohio to hike. 6+ miles of improved paths and easily 10+ miles of rugged trails. Abundant bathrooms and drinking fountains along the improved path and picnic/recreation areas for those in need.”
