“We dined in for the first time. The quality of the food and presentation were excellent. We had deliciously seasoned hot calamari. My husband had classic eggplant parmigiana. We ordered lemon cake for dessert which was light and tasty. I took off a star because I ordered a Greek salad as I often do at many places. The salad was well executed but it came out with raspberry vinaigrette. I asked the waitress if I could have Greek dressing and she said they didn’t have any. I think they ran out because there are several Greek items on the menu. I wished she had asked what kind of dressing I wanted. I probably would have ordered something different or requested oil and vinegar. I still ate half of the salad and took the other half home in a box to enjoy with my Greek dressing. I would return but I will ask specific questions first.”

They've renovated the interior of the restaurant and it looks amazing, you would never guess you were in the same Michael's. The food was delicious and came out VERY quickly. The tables outback could use some reinforcement and maybe some cushions on the chairs that are weather proof (so they can be sanitized and not get moldy depending on weather changing) but the outside area with the Edison lights, the flowers and the food is just absolutely fantastic! Must try the crepes and the loaded home fries.... But don't sell them out or I'll be sad.”

“Had a break between baseball games at Skip Wilson Field so we decided to try Zakes based on proximity and Google reviews. I called ahead and even on a Sunday midmorning they were able to seat us right away. The restaurant is in a converted stone house so there is a unique charm to the surroundings. We were seated on the enclosed porch which was nice, I prefer to eat outside but this was fine. After sitting for a few minutes our drink order was taken then shortly after our waitress took our order. Their menu is what you expect for a breakfast and lunch place. There were at least a half dozen items I would have liked to try but settled on the honey and lemon pancakes with raspberries. WOW these were good! Not only were they good but it was just a few minutes after ordering that the food came out. The staff was very friendly and attentive to the customers. Prices were reasonable for what you got, I look forward to eating there again. Additionally, they use paper straws not plastic, THANK YOU!”

I ordered the Sicilian pie which can easily be ruined by bland dough and not enough cheese with overwhelmingly gross amounts of sauce but I have to say this was one of the best ones I ever had. “Had a great lunch here today, first time. The Pho was outstanding, and it starts with the broth. It was one of the heartier Pho broths I’ve ever had. You could tell it was soaking in beef bone marrow for a LONG time. Plenty of basil too, and a large portion overall. I also enjoyed a coconut drink with fresh meat inside, always a must. My co-worker had the vermicelli, it looked great, and again larger than other places. Truly and authentic experience. Thank you, we’ll be back!”

“I've eaten at the Palm tavern before and have always had excellent food, but I was a bit disappointed with my last visit. I ordered a burger, after my daughter raved about them, but it was not that great. I ordered the burger medium well, but there was no pink to it, and it was quite dry. For a normal burger, this might be okay, but this thing was really thick and had charring in the outside. It was a chore to eat. Next time I will order medium, but I didn't want it to be too rare. The french fries were excellent as usual, but they were cold when our food arrived. And boy did we have a long wait for the food. There servers were friendly and serviced us quickly at the table, but the place wasn't busy at all, and it took about 30 minutes to get our food. Again, this visit was opposite of every other time I've eaten here, when my food was awesome and arrived quickly, so hopefully it was just a fluke. I will definitely try again, as I had good experiences before, but that was several months ago.”
