Buckhorn Park

Address: 3601 Mission Ridge Rd, Plano, TX 75023, USA

Park

“My kids really enjoyed this park. They have small, medium and large playground equipment for kids of all sizes. Two of the playgrounds are shaded, along with several picnic tables. The largest playground does not have shade as it's really tall. They could use a couple benches by the largest playground however there is a small shaded Pavillion nearby. The playground equipment was well maintained and modern. There is a large field to play in. No bathrooms. Parking was difficult. I never found a parking lot for the park and ended up parking on the street. The park is right by a school, so if you don't like large crowds, don't go when school lets out.”

“Really great place to hang out with friends”

Windhaven Park

Address: 3300 Clark Pkwy, Plano, TX 75093, USA

Park

“I haven't swum in 5 years but have started back. This facility is designed in the 1960s style which is unfortunate for a facility built in 2008. The Plano West swim team deserves a better facility to use for a team that in prior years have turned out state champions. In addition during certain times of the day it is tough to find Swim Lap Lane Availability. The water temperature is good for lap swimming. Not too hot not too cold.”

Dog Park at Windhaven Meadows Park

Address: 5369 Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, TX 75093, USA

Park

“This was the first & only dog park we’ve been to. That’s how much me & my pup love it here. My baby girl started here at 2 months, she is now 7 months. This park fits for everything. Dog, kids, walks, workouts, family gatherings. It has everything you need. The biggest plus was how clean it is. I like that it doesn’t have dirt & trees, as that can bring some unwanted visitors. I love that in the big & small dog areas, they built a side walk so you can walk while your pup/dog plays. Everyone that we’ve met are so friendly & very welcoming. I look forward to always bringing my baby girl here. I highly recommend!”

Old Shepard Park

Address: 1301 Winding Hollow Ln, Plano, TX 75093, USA

Park

“Love the park and distances from roads. The pavilion is a quaint gazebo shape. Bathrooms are usually clean-ish but the water fountains mid park rarely work. The playground is nicely shaded and the park is directly adjacent to a school with some good play equipment (not fenced off though) but if you're around right after school be prepared to share or be asked to leave. Lots of space for soccer or football and a few backstops with quality bleachers (no score boards or back fences). Has some walking trails close by and further out in the park plus a sidewalk that goes to the nearby pond and stream that flank the elementary school. Parking is also shared with the school and neighborhood and is small. It can get quite packed and difficult to navigate with kids running nearby. Overall fun and always meet someone willing to play with the kiddos too!”

The Texas Pool

Address: 901 Springbrook Dr, Plano, TX 75075, USA

Park Lodging

“One of the few Texas shaped swimming pools in the world. This historic (50 year old) pool is listed on the National Registry of Historic places and is a gem. Great place to take a day trip and chill by the pool. Lifeguards on duty. They also rent it out for parties. Birthday parties are a huge success here. You can also catch “Elizabeth Swims” the YouTube star swimming here sometimes.”

Steeplechase Park

“This park is empty most of the times and its one of the best maintained park. My kid loves it and there is a lot of open space to run around apart from the equipments to play. There is a nice covered area to celebrate small gatherings or birthday and is in a very good location. We love going there on a good sunny day and spend an hour or 2.”

There are dirt trails for hiking as well as concrete ones for running and biking. I highly recommend taking a day trip here!”
