“January 4, 2023 - 1st time rating ( if I could, I would) give 10 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Driving south from Maine, on a 2,000 mile road trip . . . When our car dash board lit up like a Christmas tree. Oil check light, ABS light, traction control light, on & on . . . We contacted a Virginia friend for lodging and a GOOD Mechanic! Our friend called Chris, her connection to Harris Garage in Hayes, VA. . . Without an appointment, Chris said , “ We’ll take a look!” The problem was a check value, and a few other items that required parts. Chris ordered the parts said it would be a day, after the parts arrived. We phoned ahead and canceled our B & B reservation in South Carolina. . . Thinking car troubles would delay our trip south. Oh well, that’s a curveball in Life. To our surprise, Chris called the next day, and said, “ Your car is fixed, ready to pick up!” Damn fast! What a surprise! We picked up the car, and started driving to Charleston, South Carolina . . . in time for our B & B reservation! This is an amazing organization, and I personally met the owner, Michael Harris, and Chris at 5:05 pm (technically the shop was closed) . . . I thanked them for their fantastic customer service & last minute emergency repairs on my Subaru! I can’t say enough how impressive they treated strangers from a distant state, traveling through Virginia who encountered car troubles. Anytime if these folks travel to Maine, I will treat them to beer 🍺 & lobsters! 🦞 on me ! Thank you gentlemen! Harris Garage is family owned, which opened in the 1940’s by Michael’s Grandfather! “I absolutely love this Home Depot ... I just moved from my beloved Colonial Williamsburg to Gloucester and just getting acquainted to all the stores on this side of the river ... I find their prices affordable and compatible to other similar stores ... Right now a lot of their Garden center plants are on sale ... Sis and I bought a very nice stainless steel kitchen work table and it was delivered yesterday Fed X ... I toured their Garden Center and am so pleased at all they have and not bad prices ... Can't wait until Spring because there will be so much more ... I am going to be 71 and my twin sis too on the 20th and I am old and gray ... but I had 4 young men that work at Home Depot ask me if I needed any help ... They were polite and courteous ... I was there right at opening so maybe I just got lu KY ... Most workers wear masks but there are no mask requirements to enter store nor are there anyone wiping shopping carts ... I do see hand sanitizer in main store ... I for one wish ALL stores still pursued safety first ... Any hoot ... It's a HUGE parking lot and 2 entrances ... 3 if you count the Garden Center when they are open ... It's a great location ... A bit tricky getting into their parking lot ... You enter the intersection where Chicken Filet is and turn just past Chicken Filet ... Drive straight until you get to the very last parking lot on you left and Home Depot being the LAST store on your left ... The several times I have been in there I have always been able to find a very helpful worker and they have even taken us right to what we were looking for ... “My Martin 000CXE acoustic needed some attention recently, so I drove from Richmond to take to Mike Larkin. I’ve had the guitar for about 11 years and it’s been with me to 15 or so countries. I previously lived in Nashville and have had some pretty great luthiers work in the past. I play the guitar a lot and it needed some work. Mike gave it a new custom nut, a fret job, setup, and general maintenance for a very affordable price! The guitar not only plays as good or better than it ever has, it also actually sounds better! Good instruments are worth investing in and Mike is someone who can restore the former glory of your guitar, or perhaps even make it sound better than ever. “Having lived in areas with one library for three counties to share, I feel so fortunate to be in Gloucester County!! Our large, expansive, Main Library is centrally located right off of Main Street, but this beautiful oyster is tucked away at the southern end, very unassumingly, sharing parking facilities with the DMV. Perhaps limited in square footage (as would be expected), the quality of the selections offered in reading, listening, & visual materials is in no way confined. A bit of everything for every age & interest group. While I have no children, one thing I adore is the individualized areas for the tiniest readers & the 'exploring beyond Seuss' age groups. This location nails this family-friendly feature. There is a private area for secure web-browsing on a library PC or BYO Device utilizing the library's free WiFi with ample seating - table, easy chair, chaise - take your pick. The overall area, carpeting, shelves, etc are always tidy & dust-bunny-free. The restroom is clean, clean, clean. The exterior & sidewalk area are always neat & free of debris. And then there's the Staff. If there has ever been a kinder, more thoughtful group of people - well - that's an irrelevant supposition - folks don't get better than the Staff at the York River Branch of our Gloucester County Public Library! ☘️”
