“Stafford Civil War Park is a really nice place off of the beaten path. Beautiful trails and the stone bridge ruins are really neat to see. Wayfinding is a bit of a problem though. The only map in the park is not accurate so take warning before taking the trail from the bridge to Battery 3 because it's not clear how to get back to the head of the Potomac Church Road trail from Battery 3. Overall great park though.”

“Peaceful place for a leisurely walk. Free and open to the public, Government Island offers nice wide trails, about half of it accessible to those with walking disabilities. The first third is paved, second third is wooden boardwalk and last third is mulched path through wooded terrain. The last third has inclines, but otherwise flat path. Parking is free. Bathroom facilities consist of one portable potty in parking lot. Make sure to Google Government Park entrance to get the most accurate directions.”

“It was a beautiful day to walk the trails here. It's an easy to walk loop. Lots of good bird watching to be seen. Many children and dogs do don't expect to have total peace and quiet. On Sunday mornings the Jehovah's witnesses set up to talk religion. So ... FYI. They weren't aggressive. Try the path early morning or before sunset.”
