“Stopped by Dan Porter Park so I could take my doggo for a quick walk since she was being so good during my deliveries. I was very surprised to see that they had just finished cleaning up the place. There were 3 huge piles of trash and debris gathered up. They had went into every crack and crevice and Bush in the park and cleaned out EVERYTHING. We took a stroll down a few small paths and it was nice. Not one broken bottle or syringe or anything. I'm thinking they did it for the Easter Egg Hunt so the kiddos will only come back with eggs and not other things they may find while searching. HAPPY EASTER!! 🐰”

“We just missed the peak Rhododendron flowering season, but there was still plenty to enjoy in these beautifully laid out and manicured gardens. If you enjoy visiting gardens then I can guarantee you'll enjoy Meerkerk”

“Very fair price!! Really fun for my kids. Had 3 young ones and a teen. Young ones had a ton of fun. Lots of animals. Food was fair price, average for a fair/carnival. Tons of different choices. Very good experience”

“I very much enjoy trips to our local state parks. They have something for everyone! You can camp, swim, launch your boat, crab, fish, whale watch, or hike the numerous trails. I take my dog there regularly and we like to take the trail from the state park to Cama Beach. It's a beautiful place to take in the surrounding beauty alone or with the whole family!”

“Great place to sit down, relax and watch the ocean roll gently in and out. Don't forget to look up into the evergreen trees because we have 2 resident eagles that are very photogenic.🦅🦅”

“Great place: as the other reviews mention, the actual fenced area is no great shakes. My dog went in, a male dog tried to hump her, she told him off: meh. The real gem of this place is the latticework of off leash trails. It is fantastic.”

“The institute is a non profit that offers retreats and has its grounds open to the public. This review is for the trails visited though after eyeing the cabins and the grounds, I'm looking at signing up for a retreat. Went here for a group hike and it was a lovely, relaxed walk through multiple short trails. Mostly gentle incline except for the steep Goat trail. Lots of tree roots to watch out for to avoid tripping on the hike but other than that, its safe for older and the littlest of hikers. No restrooms onsite but downtown Langley is just a few minutes drive and has public toilets. Recommended for families with little kids, older adults, and individuals looking for a meditative hiking experience. Dogs are not welcome on the trail. Plenty of parking available.”

“The place is great to take a stroll, do some clam digging and just taking a deep breath of the place. It's pretty chill and really just a good area to relax the eyes and mind. Lots of parking on the area.”

“Pretty nice and varied trails. Signage could be a bit better in some places. Lots of parking. I was there during the week, and I doubt there were more than 5 vehicles. Weekends may be different. Definitely a great place for trail runners, too.”

“Absolutely amazing place, beautiful unique works of arts. Many sculptures outside on property. Only bad thing I can say is the grounds were very muddy. My car got filthy just driving in to park. Where boots!!”

“Beautiful forest trails with many mushroom varieties and a huge rock that was moved from the San Juan Islands during the Ice Age. Our family loves hiking the trails which are fairly flat and well maintained!”

“Nice public access to the beach. Most Whidbey Island beaches are private but this little park offers a bit of serenity to the public. Bathrooms and seasonal wash-off areas. They even have a sand pit area with quite the collection of Tonka trucks for the little ones. Park is early accessible, good parking, and, if you are stuck waiting for the ferry, it's a great place to relax.”

“Two places to park so study the map to decide which end of the trails you want to focus on. Woodsy dirt trails go up and down, so bring your walking stick of you like a little help. Lots of ponds keep the wildlife happy (no dogs allowed). Pay $7 PP online or cash in an envelope onsite. A spiritual haven in nature for Buddhists or Celtic/neolithic stoneworks lovers. If that means nothing to you, it's still a nice nature park to hike through.”

“Launch your boat, fish or good for a walk in the woods or down the the south tip of Whidbey, this park has it all.”
Address: 7490 Maxwelton Rd, Clinton, WA 98236, USA
“The beach access was easy. The beach was beautiful. Parking was super easy. There were covered meeting areas available. Enclosed bathrooms were locked for winter but weirdly they had the cleanest porta-potties.”
