They also offer a birthing tub rental for optional water births. Cynthia is caring, personable and supportive. My family’s experience delivering at a hospital and at home were night and day different. At home we were surrounded by family in a peaceful setting with competent providers who allowed as much participation in the delivery as we wanted. I highly recommend Cynthia and her team for your family’s next birth.”

“This place has been around for 40+ years for a reason. People who went here as kids have grown up and now send their children here because of the wonderful staff. They pour their hearts and souls into our children on a daily basis. Without fail, I’m greeted every morning with smiles and personal greetings from the office, teachers and the director herself...who sits at the front instead of hidden in some office. Anyone who thinks and writes reviews otherwise about the director must be touched in the head themselves. Especially if they’re former employees hiding behind yet another name change. We all know Steven Whitmore isn’t a real person on Whidbey with any interactions with the Center (it’s a small community). Anyways, there are staff who have been here for more than 15 years. Almost their entire staff has been at the center for more than 2 years, some 5 and others 10 years or more! I would hardly call that a high turnover rate. The South Whidbey Children’s Center is a wonderful place, academically challenging and very nurturing. I would highly recommend it as both a workplace and/or an enriching place to send your little, loved ones. My only complaint was with the decisions and demeanor of a particular staff member who no longer works there. Everything else is great!!”

“Our family had a different house booked for Christmas but, at the last minute, lost it. I was scrambling to find a place big enough for the 22 of us. Carrie and Tessa were amazing! They worked so hard to make our last minute Christmas get away work. They answered all my questions so fast and clear and accommodated all our requests. They went above and beyond with personal touches to the house based on comments I made about our family. The driveway was hard to see from the street on the dark and rainy December nights. Carrie and Tessa went out in the rain and the dark and hung beautifully Christmas lights down the driveway. Not only did it help us see the driveway at night but it also added to the magic. We love Christmas lights! We were all so sad about loosing our original house but The Quintessa completely met our expectations. The only thing that would have made our stay absolutely perfect is if it had snowed. It snowed a couple days after we left. There are a lot of things to do on the island and the house had brochures so we could look at the different options.”

“Al pastor was spiced well (not spicy but flavored) and juicy. Of course the pineapple was a welcomed bite with the pork. The flour tortillas took it down a notch, it just wasn’t what my mind and mouth wanted in a taco, hey save me a piece of that corn for later eh? Overall, it’s a good spot and possibly some of the better tacos on the island.”

“These guys are lifesavers!! Cannot say enough good things about this place and the people who run it, whom I believe are all volunteers. Recently opened up after renovation for in house shopping again. You are able to go in as many times as you like during the month as long as you have points left, and during the holiday months there are always Turkeys and everything else you'd need for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. Their selection of produce in the summertime is so fantastic and they grow a lot of it on-site in their garden. The staff are always super friendly and helpful. “My right rear turn signal went out and having heard good things about them, I called Simmons to see if they could replace it anytime soon. Much to my surprise, anytime soon was just a few hours later. Clearly this was a very busy garage with rigs parked all over. Despite that, the guys took me right away and in no time had me back on the road. They only charged me for the new bulb as they said what they did wasn’t really labor. Everyone was friendly and now I know where to take my ride when something more complicated goes wrong! Can’t say enough good things about Simmons!! Lisa”
