“Wonderful windmill with much of its original equipment intact. It was built in 1816, and is one of three windmills which stood in the area. When open, it is staffed by enthusiastic volunteers who explain in detail its workings. It is a tower mill with a fantail, which moves round the top, so the sails always face the wind. It was equipped with a steam engine, which was used to drive the milling equipment on windless days. It is well worth a visit. There is limited parking available on Mill Lane.”

“A lovely museum. We visited on a free entrance day. The gardens are gorgeous on a sunny day. We attended whilst there was an event on discussing the history of photography in Harlow, it was very interesting and great to meet the individuals there. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The museum has a little cafe which is a nice touch. Overall, it was a really nice visit and far better than we had expected.”

“Worked on the conversion as a site manager for PJ Livsey after the women's open prison had had a devastating fire and was converted into 9 luxury apartments in the main block and 12 smaller properties in the servants quarters an the stable blocks. Numbered 1-22, missing out number 13 due to a long line of PJ Livsey superstition. Suspended ceilings and walls as not to damage the internal remains. Tapestries exposed through glass panels in the communal areas. The project took over 5 years to complete. Beautiful building and gardens. Wild deer at sunset and sunrise in the low lying mist at dawn. Just picturesque. It was a very nice experience in my life living on site in a 9ft x 9ft box buddy living accommodation. It was worth it.”

“Very interesting place, spent an hour here but could have spent probably another hour. I'd say its worth the money to wander round. We also did a ghost hunt thru night before which was very disappointing as absolutely nothing happened. What little did happen can easily be explained. From a ghost point I wouldn't recommend, but it is worth a visit during the day as it is very interesting.”
