“Everyone can make soft tofu soup but not everyone can make it just right. This place makes it just right. I make the soup myself at home and I can match some Korean restaurants but not this one. A good Korean soft tofu soup has a complex taste. It has so many layers. The ratio for the amount of soup and tofu has to be perfect. The meat can’t steal the show. Here, even the containers are right. They will burn your fingers long after you have finished eating. If it is easier to find parking, I would definitely come more often.”

“This is Korean style Chinese food. The menu would look as if there are not many items on it like a normal Chinese restaurant but it's because it specializes in ZaZang Mien. There are many versions of this but Chef Yu's is pretty high on my list. All the other dishes is typical dishes that would go with the noodles. Enjoy.”

“I’ve eaten here in the past and it was amazing. Came here recently for an order I placed over the phone. I had a late start to my pi day and they still had their pies available. The service was very kind and I appreciated that a lot. There was outdoor seating and also so many people waiting for to go orders. I’m happy they are still keeping busy”

“I genuinely didn’t know Ramen could be this amazing. The patio is well design and the staff do a great job keeping things safe and comfortable. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating while doing a good job keeping their space. But the real outstanding element of this place is the food. Mild spicy is perfect if you are a weakling like me. The eggs are perfectly cooked and the broth is the best I have ever had. You won’t be disappointed coming here in any respect.”

“My daughter loves your pizza”

“This place was really good. I'd had their pizza in Berkeley before, but this new spot is great. Nice and spacious, cool and casual vibe with board games, TVs, and great beers on tap. I'll admit I was a little skeptical that a single slice would be enough, but it was. Strongly recommend the meatball pizza, and the salads were great too. I'll definitely be back - good value and nice place.”

“A friend and I made a quick detour into Oakland to check out Burma Superstar on our last trip to the bay, and it was absolutely worth the time. The restaurant has a reputation for having excellent food and a solid dining experience and it didn't disappoint. It's in a nice part of Oakland, and if you're lucky you might just be able to find a parallel parking spot nearby! Pro Tip: Use the Yelp app to put yourself in line if you're going at a busy time! When I went, we didn't realize this was an option, but luckily we went on a weeknight and there wasn't much of a crowd so we were inside the restaurant within 10 minutes of arrival. Even if you're stuck outside for a bit, they have benches and heaters outside so you aren't uncomfortable. Now onto the food...I can honestly say that I didn't dislike anything I had to eat at Burma Superstar (an accomplishment, I promise!). I had the Spicy Noodles as my main dish, and the Salt and Pepper Calamari as my starter -- both excellent options. The coconut rice is a nice amount of coconut flavor while maintaining the innate sweetness therein as well. One thing to note, the Samusas are NOT to be confused with Samosas (Indian). The taste is different, but I can see some relation as the execution is similar. Not a food item, but added bonus: they have coconut water in-coconut! They'll crack the coconut and add a straw for you, and at the end of the night, they'll also completely break the coconut for you to be able to eat the meat if you'd like. Overall, I have 0 hangups in saying that Burma Superstar does live up to the hype you've been hearing about it -- go check it out!”

“We truly enjoyed this Thai place. The decor was cozy and warm. Seating was family style or window tables/bars. You pay at the bar and then they bring the food to you. They also do take out. Fairly priced. We loved the bowls. Weren't a huge fan of the Laos Spicy Sausage. Overall great experience.”

“Takeout experience: ordered their japchae (6.99) with beef (+$2). Tasty taste! Not too sweet and the portion is perfect.”

“So much love! They are speedy, consistent and always happy to help. I am not a huge fan of fried chicken but I'll wait 30 minutes in line for their sandwich!”
