“Good amount of shade, safe, not crowded (like Heather Farm) and cleaner than half the other parks in Concord. The only down side is the lack of dedicated parking. I am more concerned for the surrounding neighborhood than anything else. We love the park for our little ones, which matters more than anything else.”

“This is a really nice community park. There are Apple trees everywhere and flowers. Don't pick the apples though, they're for education. There's a trail that leads down to the creek and it's beautiful. Great place for connecting with nature.”

“Next to Monte Vista High School. Great, clean park. Ducks and geese are in and around the man-made pond. Lots of well-maintained lawn. Good size playground area with bucket swings for under 18 months old. Community Center can be rented out. Nice wide walking paths for both walkers, strollers, and dog walkers. A War Memorial area in the far right corner of park. Plenty of benches to sit all around the park. Public restrooms. Free parking lot.”

“I'm on the Peregrine Protection Team in the Diablo Foothills and it's like being a tiny person in a beautiful vast place where you feel connected to nature. It's great for hiking, not a lot of steep trails and it's got streams to cross over, picnic areas, lawn and the views are spectacular! The Pine Canyon cliffs are closed to the public during Peregrine breeding season, Feb 1 - July 31 (tresspassers ARE fined, just be aware). The rest is open for your pleasure though.”

“For climbing this is a very rich area. BUT, it is a mile mildly uphill hike to get to the turn out for the pine canyon/castle rock. Then it's across a creek and up steep unmarked canyons. The trails are not marked after the turn up hill. Mountain project is a great resource but it will require a full morning of strenuous recon before the pay off. The payoff are amazing views and flakey sandstone cliffs. The creek is nice to hike along in winter but dry in summer. Overall, excellent for adventuring but not for a casual day climb.”

“Heaven on Earth!”

“The Castle Rock trail is my go-to when I need a short escape + workout. It has some good hills, great views and an occasional run-in with the local wildlife. Dogs can go off-leash once up in the hills.”

“Really cool place to rider and hike with friends or just by yourself. There is usually a little path for you to walk on throughout the entire trail. The trial is very long and consists of many different sections. The trial is bike and hiking friendly. The roses are pretty roughly made so only use a mountain bike on this trial. I have some videos that I made while riding there.”

“We used to hang out here all the time in high school. Over a decade later now and with a kid things have changed a bit. Came back to visit family and was amazed by all the upgrades. The playgrounds are great! This has always been a nice park but it is even better now. If you have little ones this is definitely a place to check out.”

“Totally one of the most beautiful spots I've seen in the area. Granted, I visited just a few days after a storm rolled through, but the hills were vibrant green and everything was bursting with life. Hardly anyone around. Easy to get away from the sound of traffic. Just beautiful. Easy to get lost in it, in a good way.”

“Really fantastic park with challenging inclines and awesome views of Mt. Diablo. You might be a little confused as you drive to the stating area as you have to drive through a little subdivision. Don't be afraid! The parking lot is indeed behind all those houses. On my 6 mile hike, I only saw 2 other people the entire time. It's a pretty undiscovered place.”
