“Nice climb from Clayton all the way into Black Diamond Mines Park. Hike as an out an back on the same dirt road. All up hill from Clayton side. About 6 or 7 parking spaces at trail head. Dogs okay off leash except at parking lot but beware our dog always picks up a bunch of small round sharp stickers that we have to stop and pull out 3 or 4 times during the hike. Bring water!”

Dougherty Valley Ridge Trail

Address: Dougherty Hills Trail, San Ramon, CA 94582, USA

Park

“Nice open and scenic semi-wild gentle hill top trail in middle of San Ramon. The entire trail is not completely open yet, as there is still a barbed wire fence and overgrown section impeding travel near the north end, towards Bollinger Canyon Road. When completed, I expect the trail to travel the Ridgeline all the way from Old Ranch Road to Bollinger Canyon Road. Even as it is, it makes a nice getaway hill top stroll or hike, feeling remote enough to be away from hustle and bustle of city life below, and refreshed as the wind blows across your face and watching the sun sink lower to the western horizon. You can see Mt Diablo to north and Wiedemann Hill to West. Hawks and Turkey Vultures overhead, maybe a rabbit or two along trail... Overall a great place close to town for a evening walk.”

“One of our favorite places to go, take our kids, and enjoy a beautiful day. The pool is open, the playground is big, with swings, slides, and a younger kiddo structure plus it's shaded under tall trees. The areas to BBQ or picnic are always open and covered from the elements. Don't forget the whole park is blessed with beautifully matured trees. They have bathrooms and many, many picnic tables. Plenty of grassy space to set up a game, volleyball net, etc. Great place to spend time with friends or family.”

“Great little park. Good jungle gym, swings for little ones, access to the school track. I was a kid in this neighborhood 40 years ago and what is now the park started out as a pile of dirt we used as a bike jump at the edge of school property. They did a nice job making of value to the community out of it”
