Last minute stay here (the nearby yellow post sites were all occupied) but it was a good stay. Nice large campground. Some sites seemed a little crowded. We stayed at #64. This whole row of sites was pretty empty compared to the rest of the campground. Plus, there were no sites on the back side which was nice.
Would love stay there for weekend out with a family. We stayed 2 nights and my kids enjoyed the river.
First time there. Middle of the week a d place was empty. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Great place to get away.
Hurkey Creek Campground is a great place to camp with kids. The campsites are spacious and well-maintained, and there are plenty of activities to keep everyone busy. The kids loved playing in the creek, hiking on the trails, and roasting marshmallows over the campfire. We also enjoyed the proximity to Idyllwild, which has a variety of shops, restaurants, and attractions.
The only downside to the campground is the bathrooms. They are could use a update. However, this is a minor complaint, and it didn't detract from our overall experience.
Overall, we had a great time at Hurkey Creek Campground. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors with your family.
I've camped here during January for the last five years. Very quiet campground, but it would be even better if it wasn't as close to the main road. It's less than an hour to get up here from either Hemet or Banning. There's many trails to hike in the area, and there's fishing across the road at Lake Hemet. Gas station with liquor a few miles up the road, and there's a small market at Lake Hemet for supplies.
