“A little difficult to access unless you have a truck or SUV with plenty of ground clearance. If you can get there it's a great place to start your hike to Mt. San Jacinto summit. Prepare for a very long strenuous day hike!”

“The road starts off easy enough but gets rough fast. Having a 4x4 or a raised vehicle to continue will help. After the second fire restriction sign the road gets easier to pass. The campsite is spacious with a vault toilet. It's very quiet. Pack in-Pack out.”

Round Valley Trailhead

Address: Round Valley Trail, California, USA

Park

“It's hard to imagine thick forests and streams up there when everything at the bottom of the mountains is desert, but it's true. Rode the tram (a wonderful experience in it's own right) to the trailhead, then took the north part of Round Vally Loop to Wellman Divide Trail, headed for Mt San Jacinto. The trail is fairly easy to follow, although large sections of it are rocky. The outbound ascent is fairly steady, nothing terrible. Do remember that you start at 8,400.' If you're not acclimated, this one will be tougher than normal. There are also a number of places where last winters huge snow pack, and subsequent melting, caused wash-outs and scouring. I came to a few spots where the trail seemed to disappear because it simply went over rocky sections. Within 15-20 yards of each of those places, the trail became obvious again. I crossed several stream beds, some of which were still flowing the last week in September, 2023. I did not need my poles for this trail, but was glad I wore boots. I encountered about 20 people (all of whom were pleasant) on this trail, making for a pretty quiet, peaceful experience. I will be back to explore more trails. *****Things to be aware of. It begins getting dark well before normal sunset because you are in a valley. Having a headlamp and/or flashlight is a good idea. A headlamp is best because it leaves your hands free; a good idea on this trail with all the rocky sections. It is much cooler up there than on the valley floor. It was in the 80s on the floor, but 60° at the top of the tram ride. It got even cooler as the day wore on and darkness approached. Finally, you are required to have a free day permit, which you can pick up at the ranger station at the beginning of the trail.”

California Oaks Sports Park

Address: 40600 California Oaks Rd, Murrieta, CA 92562, USA

Park

“Very scenic park that is easily accessible from California Oaks Rd. Multiple facilities to include a public swimming pool, two full basketball courts, sand volleyball, skate park, tennis courts, and several baseball fields. There are also multiple restaurants and fast food places in very close proximity for times when you need to refuel after a day of athletic activity. The restrooms at the park (located in vicinity of the pool) are a tad bit above average in terms of cleanliness compared to some of the other municipal parks/sports centers, but still nothing worth writing home about. Parking is available in either in the park facility or a long California Oaks Rd. (except during certain special events or other city activities, in which case temporary no parking signs will be posted).”

Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail 3E07

Address: Fern Valley Rd, Idyllwild-Pine Cove, CA 92549, USA

Park

“A really fun and moderate trail. Good scenery with a wide variety of plants. One of the best things is the diversity of plants. Cool rocks and trail goes in and out of tree coverage. It can get hot in the afternoon and no breeze in the exposed sections. This is a good hiking trail that’s is enjoyable doing several times at different times of the year. Always a good choice.”

Cedar Springs Trail 4E17

Address: Morris Ranch Rd, Mountain Center, CA 92561, USA

Park

“March '21. The entrance to the trail is down a paved lane off highway 74 at the fire station. It is a beautiful area full of oak trees. The trail is a little rocky here and there but not too hard and definitely worth the effort. It is well marked. You feel like you're out in the middle of nowhere but it's only a 45 minute drive from PS. The area is so pretty and there were still some snow patches.”

Winchester Creek Park

Address: 39950 Margarita Rd, Temecula, CA 92591, USA

Park

“A great local park with two different sized playgrounds, a full basketball court, a half court, a sand volleyball court, and a nice walking path with hills. There are bathrooms and they aren't super terrible for a public park. I just wish they had lights for the basketball court because it's the closest full court within two miles.”

They are also quite savvy and have experiences and opinions that are worth listing to (and VERY few people do). We could be so lucky to keep coming back periodically as long as we are blessed to have them be the stewards of this amazing home and acreage.”

You can walk through the large property and view and smell all the blumes when it's open to the public. You can even purchase gallon and 5 gallon plantings that are for sale. Worth the time to visit and it's free!”

Windsong Park

“Really impressed with this park! It's neat, quiet and safe as its tucked away into a residential area. It has a large play structure, a basketball court, two covered structures with tables and one covered structure without. Large grassy section with a few large trees and even a looping sidewalk for scooters or strollers. I've been to some neighborhood parks without bathrooms and this at least has a porta-potty. Doggy bags provided, hope dog owners keep using them.”
