Hiking in rain and snow totally worth it after this view
Scenic hike up to the PCT. Great views of Hemet lake and more! Rattlesnakes country beware.
A nice 9 mile out and back to the PCT junction. The last 3/4 mile is somewhat steep and has a number of downed trees which are not difficult to navigate. Water was flowing nicely at 3 different crossings.
This is an under appreciated gem of a trail through what is now the Mountain Fire burn area to the Pacific Crest Trail. As of 2024, many of the plants and animals along the trail are recovering well from the fire, with many of the oaks and other trees now growing over your head. From April through June, look forward to good to great wildflowers and butterflies along the trail. A nice day hike will bring you to a beautiful stream crossing about 3.75 miles in. It's a good place to eat lunch and turn around, or continue on to the PCT up some fairly steep switchbacks. Much of the trail was completely rebuilt following the fire and is in good condition, although a bit brushy in some spots.
Cool trail, well kept and easy to follow. Did not go to PCT trail, started late, 10 yr old dog seemed spent, plus thunderstorms in May? Crazy! Well worth a day hike, flowers along the whole trail, variety as you get higher.
