“So this is our 3rd time attending Camp Tanda and it’s been easy, affordable and fun for our teens. The facilities are spacious, warm (in the fall and winter) and it’s enclosed so the youth can roam around freely. The staff is amazing, anything we need they accommodate. Milene is amazing and always helpful with accommodations. We’ve been able to save so much money by bringing our own cooks and using the camps industrial kitchen. I definitely recommend Camp Tanda to anyone who’s interested in a weekend or week long retreat!”

“Same Bowen Ranch camp area & trailhead, different entrance and people running it. Been going here 20 years & it’s a vast improvement. The roads are graded smooth and having actual facilities like bathrooms & showers available is amazing. The grumpy gun toting guy is still in the shack at the old original entrance to the Bowen Ranch, but beware that it NO LONGER leads to the actual Bowen Ranch camp area and hot springs trail because there is a new fence at the property line blocking the road forcing you to hike way around and use a new trail.”

“This was an awesome hiking experience! I'll bet it's even prettier when the gardens are in bloom. I especially enjoyed the "California Conifers" section. So thrilling to see Giant Sequoia, Redwoods, Cypress, Pines, and Firs all in one place! I appreciated the Interpretive signage. Very informative and educational. Not to mention awe inspiring!”

“Very unique and remote we couldn’t go all the way to deer canyon wash but there was tools under a tarp that someone’s as using to cutting a way through the bushes to reveal the trail.”

“Beautiful place to camp with a cool, clear, running spring. I backpacked in from Hwy. 38 and saw a number of Pacific Crest Trail thru hikers who also spent the night there. There are some metal horse corals, a few with shade and a gravity fed water trough on the others side of the campground. I came back and stayed 3 nights in July and there was still water in the springs and a lot of wild flowers everywhere.”

“Great little pit stop on the way out of Big Bear. I stopped because the weather on the mountain tops made for some pretty spectacular views. There's picnic tables: perfect for a quick sack lunch or snack with good ol mother nature. Well maintained and in such a beautiful spot. Would like to visit when the center is open someday.”

“My family came back with all smiles and great stories about Camp Tahquitz. They arrived home with their invitee paperwork and are excited for future days at Camp Tahquitz. Thank you for making the sign up/pre-work for camp seamless and the week at camp for the scouts exciting, challenging and fun. I kept telling our adult leaders "I think this is going to be an easy and fun week at camp, they seem very flexible and organized". Our adult leaders really appreciated and enjoyed your hospitality and the excitement and buzz of the staff at camp. Thank you for delivering!”

“This is a lovely park with a nice playground for kids (2-5) and (5-12). There’s a community center, senior’s center and both covered and open sit-outs. Good green cover in many places. A walking/joggers track wraps around the north perimeter of the park, approx 1.2mi. At the center, there’s a thoughtful memorial to our veterans. As a bonus, you get a beautiful view of the mountains. The park closes at 6pm which is early for summer, and some folks are still around late into the evening.”

“People enjoy protesting here. In front of city hall. At least they stand on the sidewalk and in the park like traditional protesters, and not in the middle of the roadway. So the park is busy.”

“Amazing little zoo!! Didn't expect a whole lot going in and boy was I wrong. This intimate little zoo allowed us to see these animals way closer than expected! Went on a weekday, so it wasn't very busy. All of the exhibits were great, but the bear exhibits truly stood out. I have never been able to get that close to a bear before. It was truly magnificent. The thing that puts this zoo ahead of all others I have been to is how closely all of the animals can be viewed. Also my first time seeing a snow leopard. Definitely recommend!”

Hot tub, game room, kitchen, porch & great room areas are perfect spaces for meeting new people &/or hanging out in groups. Free coffee + breakfast (fruit & ingredients for waffles or pancakes). $2.50 laundry. Exceptionally clean and fun hostel with great vibes”

“Strenuous but beautiful hike. Road to trailhead parking is really bad. Looks like the flash floods damage it but is passable. I wouldn't recommend low profile vehicles to try to make it through. Low profile vehicles maybe should park at Hatchery and the 38 at the entrance. This hike starts at a slow incline and will get your heart rate going. Your breaks are when trail goes down and then you must go up again. I recommend hiking poles for the down hill back down. Hardest switchbacks are a mile before you summit. Great time to catch your breath and hydrate. Views are beautiful from every corner. Old Greyback looks stunning from many places on your way up. Watch out for falling trees. Yesterday 9-4-22 the trail was clear on the way up. On the way down, half a mile before the trailhead, an old tree fell and was now blocking the trail. Had to hop over it. If you're looking for a challenging hike and solitude, this is the hike. Carry plenty of water on this hot days. The flow of the creek at the beginning of the hike is low.”

“My son's birthday was held here. It's has a nice play area for kids. If you're looking for a nice place to relax and for kids to play, this is it. Trees provide good shade from the sun. There's an area with some gym equipment if you'd like to work out. There is a restroom too.Have never used it though😉.”
