“Fabulous hiking. Well maintained. Huge trees. Great hiking paths in the shade. Just a fabulous park for hikes and gatherings. They charge an entrance fee of $8 but it pays for the upkeep of the park clearly and the money is well spent. Good for kids and sports as it has playgrounds and picnic areas.”

“The Kite Hill Preserve is the very best example in San Mateo County, of California's original California native grasslands and wildflower fields, as they looked 300 years ago, producing spectacular blooms of tens of millions of wildflowers March to June. Then, July to October, the spring wildflowers go dormant for the summer, and the summer flowers start bloom in patches. On a sunny summer day you can smell the scent of the white tarplants that stay green all summer. This area would look "barren" in the summer and fall because there are no irrigated lawns, as it is being restored to it original fire-safe and weed-free wild conditions. An excellent example of how the flammable weed grasses in our other open space preserves, could be converted to fire-safe wildflower meadows, with only monthly mowing and fertilizing. No bathrooms, no picnic areas and no ticks either. This is a wildflower preserve being restored to its original conditions, so your only expectation should be--an absolutely wonderful display of flowers in spring that might astound native plant enthusiasts and botanists. An interesting place for bird-watchers, with a resident population of blue birds that nest there. Trails criss-cross the 17 acre preserve, and is a very easy walk. You park along Jane Drive behind the locked gate, walk through the pedestrian gate that is always open, walk down Jane Drive, and take the first trail that runs along the I-280 fence. Nice bench further down the trail, with a beautiful view that overlooks the Stanford Hills in the distance.”

“I've wanted to check out this park for quite some time and a few times we did stop there was no parking. There is a total of nine parking spots plus one handicap spot and it is tight. Make sure to back into your parking spot or else you're going to have a world of trouble trying to get out. Today we stopped there by chance and miraculously someone was walking to their car and we were able to back into our spot. There is a Private Road that is not for pedestrians and the trail that goes alongside of it. This park is pretty small compared to all the other ones and a walk down to a lackluster pond I just don't think was worth the time but I'm happy to check this one off my list. If you walk all the way down it's about 400 ft in elevation not too steep. The one highlight of this trip was on the way up I thought I was taking a shortcut and I found a geocache which was the first one I've ever found. You'll see my signature there. There's a couple of good opportunities to take photos of the bay and Stanford Tower. Of course we did pass a couple families with their kids and the little girls of course complaining that they didn't want to walk anymore. Parents please stop forcing your daughters to go on hikes unless they want to, I mean the complaining is loud enough to make us want to get away from your family as soon as possible.”

“Please don't come here... It is a Perfect Redwood Eden without any crowds. Again, PLEASE don't visit! It is a short trail and the only loop or round-trip options are extremely cross-country on primitive trails and kinda wild!”

“As a docent here, the level of preservation on JRBP is aweinspiring, and the opportunities for research and education are invaluable - especially in such a packed, human-engineered penisular.”

“Easy to reach. Small 6 to 7 car lot near entrance. Maybe more further in, didn't check. Moderate 1.6 mile hike in covered shaded landscape. Dog friendly.”

“I did a long hike here to mountain terrace and ate lunch at Alice's restaurant. On the way there was an abandoned pond that a lot of reptiles use. There's also a big meadow. Some friends saw a big snake while they were walking around the meadow, but I was resting on a bench and didn't see it.”

“Best place to relax and enjoy nature. the parking fees is $6. it closes at 5/6pm(changes every time). It is very big, definitely not something which you can cover in one day. i saw places where you can eat your own lunch. water fountains and restrooms are clean. the park map at the entrance is very imp. over all, it is definitely a place to visit. there are barbecue pits to cook.”

“Filoli has beautiful and extensive gardens and orchards for viewing that include roses, apples, pomegranates, etc. Admission also grants access to the first floor of the mansion that is surrounded by the garden and meadows that host wild deer. There is also a one mile secluded hike that leads by a nature center that houses taxidermy examples of local wildlife as well as information about the San Andreas fault that runs through the property.”
