Very nice drive. Cash only. We saw 3 alligators, 1 was in the road . Be careful if you get out of your car. Open dawn till dusk.
6/5/23. A nice drivable nature loop. Cost $10 per car. Take your time and enjoy, the views. Lots of birds and if your lucky you may even see Alligators. Has two walking trails within the loop also.
Happened on this trail while driving around. Good, well maintained road. 11 viewing areas. The gators are between 10 and 11 but we saw one to the right around the #1 viewing area. All told we managed to see at least a dozen of them. Also happened upon what I think was a lynx after we left the Viewing area. Lots of wading birds throughout. Including a vid of the lynx we saw.
Long winding drive through scrubby swap land.
Clear large lanes, so 2 cars could pass or you could pull over without obstructing traffic.
Amazing scenery and wildlife.
Will def be back to hike the trail when it gets cooler!
Only 10$ a car with full access to trails and water decks.
Def recommend a visit at least once....esp for locals!
On a previous flight to Orlando the gentleman sitting next to me told me about this place and I was determined to stop this trip. It was a great experience- like a bird and alligator safari! I think it would be good for all ages from young kids to older people/people with mobility issues. We saw so many neat bird types! It’s definitely worth taking a couple of hours to explore.
