“Dupree park is a nice little park. Lots of activities… this time we were there for the playground, which is a bit dated. Really just one play structure with slides. A few other small slides on the ground. Some basic swings and that’s about it for play equipment.”

Gatewood Park

Address: 224 Bartow Beach Rd SE, Cartersville, GA 30121, USA

Park

“Great campground. Super quite for October and the staff was very friendly. Make sure to do your research on your site to make sure you can get your camper backed in as some places are a bit tight. We will be back again in a few weeks.”

Sawnee Campground

Address: 3200 Buford Dam Rd, Cumming, GA 30041, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“We only camped one night but had a great time. The check in hosts (Trish and Will, I believe?) we extremely kind and helpful. The waterside sites are gorgeous but I would avoid the sites that back up to Buford Dam Road due to noise and lack of scenery. We were in site 7, which is quite small for a trailer. Ours is 16 feet and I would not try with something larger. Ideal for tents though. The bathrooms were clean but very minimal. No trash cans in the bathrooms, so please pack your garbage out. There are bins outside the bathroom. I did notice the dumpster was overflowing and needed to be picked up. The campground was very quiet at night, but be aware, there are houses across the lake from some of the sites. It could get noisy especially around summer holidays. We live locally and are familiar with Lake Lanier. There is lots of do here for recreation and there are stores and restaurants nearby. We will be back to Sawnee for another staycation in the future! The Ridge Nature Preserve

Address: 390 Burch Rd, Fayetteville, GA 30215, USA

Park

“Beautiful and quiet trails. Super nice place for a walk/hike. They even have a bathroom you can use! There are wooded meadows, little creeks, and the paths are well defined with markers. There are different trails that you can follow and they’re all color coded. I would say to not walk here alone because it’s far in the woods, so make sure you have someone with you while you walk. You can hear the birds and when you walk along the creek on the blue trail you can hear the water flowing. The trails are nice and shaded so even if it’s hot out, the shade keeps you cool.”

The bathrooms are enough, though wish the garbagebins were emptied by the city as they will overflowing. It is 5$ per car for parking and card only! Also some great walking trails around.”

“We celebrated my daughter’s 3rd birthday here this past Saturday! When I say camp carousel went above and beyond to make sure my baby and guests had the best time of there lives they did just that! All of my guests were so thrilled at the animals and loved the bounce houses! Ms. Lisa was a wonderful host and made sure everything was running smoothly! Last but not least thank you so much Dawn for making this experience one to remember forever! There is a large covered playground area, large lake (no fishing), picnic tables, lots of benches, clean restrooms, and lots of paved trails in the sun & shade. I see a lot of photographers out there doing family & graduation pictures. Lots of beautiful backdrops. Perfect to walk your dogs. They have a few poop bag stations.”

George Washington Carver Park

Address: 3900 Bartow Carver Rd SE, Acworth, GA 30102, USA

Park

“Certainly has a lot of picnic tables! About 30 to be exact, plus more under the pavilion with a few grills on the grounds as well. Swing sets and a playground for kids are present just above the boat dock, boat ramp, beach, and swimming area. In the center overlooking the lake is an enclosed events facility that can be rented to accommodate a wide variety of gatherings. On the side of this building are restrooms and showers. A $5 daily fee for boat ramp parking is posted. This park has a great historical background as well. Founded in 1950 by Tuskegee Airman John Atkinson upon returning from WW2, it became the summer home of St. John's Ski Bees ski club and hosted live musical concerts by rock n roll legends such as Little Richard and Ray Charles.”

Indian Springs State Park Stone Pavilion

Address: 678 Lake Clark Rd, Flovilla, GA 30216, USA

“Terrific campsites. Spring water the Creek Indians used for centuries for its healing qualities. Bring your own bottles to fill. State parks charge $5.00 for a day parking pass. It has 2 wonderful walking trails. It has boat and canoe rentals. Has miniature golf and 5 picnic shelters you can reserve as well as a stone pavillion, group shelter, and group camp. It also has primitive campsites. Beautiful State park. It is worth the trip!!”

“Update: Aug 9, 2022 I was able to walk on the Trail today by myself. I Really enjoyed it. It was Nice and Serene. Loved all the Trees. I really liked this Walking / Bike trail. It can be very intimidating 1st bc there are alot of bikers. You have to really follow bike traffic rules on this trail. I was walking with my pup but there were so many bikers going so fast. At 1st I was Nervous. But we fit right in eventually. We will go back. Next time I will bring my bike instead of walking.”

Campground Park Rv park Lodging Travel agency Health

“We just got back from an amazing anniversary weekend at Banning Mills. We wanted to get away for a weekend but not have to drive super far and are glad we picked this place. We stayed in a tree house with the creek view which was super cozy. We played mini golf, hit the trails and of course went zip lining!!! We did levels 1-3 then added on the ridge runner which was spectacular. The gourmet dinner was amazing and the whole weekend they were accommodating of me being a vegetarian. We will be back for more adventures and highly recommend.”

Kenney Askew Park

Address: 1080 Univeter Rd, Canton, GA 30115, USA

“I would give it a five star but lately we've had a problem with people hugging the tennis court to play volleyball for hours at a time , even tho it clearly states the tennis court is for tennis playing only. Also they're supposed to only use it for an hour if someone else shows up , well that's not the case other people playing tennis usually have to give up the court because these people don't care to follow the rules.”
