Maunalua Bay Beach Park

Address: Honolulu, HI 96825, USA

Park

“This is a great beach and it’s rarely crowded. The views are great as well with lush in the background and volcanic on the other side. This is one of the best places on the island to watch the sunset from. Breathtaking.”

Hahaʻione Valley Neighborhood Park

Address: 785 Ainapo St, Honolulu, HI 96825, USA

Park

“This valley is so breezy and cool, it's a joy to stroll past this park. The park has bathrooms, picnic tables, a kids play ground, and a field for sports. Great memories!”

'Āina Koa Park

Address: Honolulu, HI 96821, USA

Park

“Park is perfect enough to hold 10 or less functions. A lot of activities being held with the short amount of time there. Bathroom is public and clean. A lot of neighborhood families!”

Mānoa Valley District Park

Address: 2721 Kaaipu Ave, Honolulu, HI 96822, USA

Park

Koko Crater Botanical Garden

Address: 7491 Kokonani St, Honolulu, HI 96825, USA

Park

“Great nature walk with free admission! This botanical garden is a fairly easy and very peaceful walk. The loop is about 2.0 miles with about 250 ft. elevation. A dirt path winds its way around the interior of Koko Crater, which features a variety of plants including a cactus garden (my 4y.o. twins' favorite). The path is rocky with large gravel or palm-sized rocks at times so this nature walk is not stroller friendly. There are benches and picnic tables scattered throughout the garden but there are no bathrooms (only 1 portable toilet) and no water fountains. Bring lots of water, a hat, and sunscreen. Covered shoes are highly recommended. Toddlers will need extra help navigating the rocky parts of the path but my twins have done this walk since they were 2.5 years old. Definitely a beautiful way to spend a couple hours!”

Puʻunui Community Park

Address: 2526 Huene St, Honolulu, HI 96817, USA

Park

“A great small public park in the upper Liliha area where children can use a fairly new jungle gym. The city custodians do a great job of keeping the park and the restrooms clean and tidy. Unfortunately this also invites vagrants to loiter nearby. It would be a great idea if the City police could do their job in keeping the homeless off the street and into shelters, the park would be much safer and more enjoyable for the community.”

Foster's Point

Address: 3455 Mamala Bay Dr, Honolulu, HI 96818, USA

Park

“Foster Point is an incredible place to have gatherings. Point is surrounded by water except for the paved area that you walk out to the pavilion. There is a large covered Pavilion. I did notice I couldn’t get cell coverage under the pavilion however after walking away from the pavilion about ten feet no problem. Plenty of parking is available. Book through Air Force ITT office. Incredible aquamarine water views.”

Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon

Address: Honolulu, HI 96815, USA

Park

“The lagoon is well maintained, so peaceful, very beautiful and the sunset was so amazing.”

Manoa Falls

Address: 37 Manoa Rd, Honolulu, HI 96822, USA

Park

“45 minutes walk is nothing for someone who wanted to enjoy the hike to Manoa falls. Bring you bottle and make sure you get some sweet water, so sweet 😋 I have to hike one a week with my girls.”

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve

Address: 100 Hanauma Bay Rd, Honolulu, HI 96825, USA

Park

“One of the best beaches I've been to for snorkeling. We saw amazing fishes and they are just everywhere. The coral reef is fantastic to observe just pleas DO NOT STEP OR TOUCH for more than 5 sec - it is a living thing and human suffocate it basically. There is not much natural shade on the beach so either go early to get the spots under the palm trees or make sure you have either a beach umbrella or a good (reef-friendly) sunscreen or maybe both if you'd like to be on the safe side :). Booking in advance is mandatory.”

Waiʻalae Beach Park

Address: 4925 Kahala Ave, Honolulu, HI 96816, USA

Park

“Absolute jewel Beach located just about 15min from the busy Waikiki beach. Not many tourists know about this beach - they have washroom/shower facility and the picnic area with a few tables, under the shade. I wish the parking lot was little bigger but can't really complain since its free and the turn over cycle is okay.”

Diamond Head Beach Park

Address: 3300 Diamond Head Rd, Honolulu, HI 96815, USA

Park

“Love grabbing some tea or lunch and sitting here for a few mins. Great views of the ocean and surfers. If you’re lucky you’ll see a mongoose! If you leave your car just make sure to take anything valuable to you and lock the doors.”

Point Panic

Address: 21060001, Honolulu, HI 96813, USA

Diamond Head State Monument

Address: Honolulu, HI 96815, USA

Park

“Good hike. Lots of people no social distancing at all. Pillbox gets very packed with people fighting for pic opportunities. But the view is indeed incredible. Tips: (1) we took bus from Waikiki and it’s worth it given how expensive rental cars are these days. (2) The infamous pineapple smoothie - $12 - is kinda a ripoff but lots of people get it... (3) Shaved ice is good $4 is not crazy and it cools you down. (4) morning time seems to be most crowded. When we got down around 12pm, the number of people going up is significantly smaller. I’d imagine it should be less crowded in later PM. But morning time is definitely crowded. I saw some cars having to wait for parking spots... (visited June 8, 2021).”

Kuli‘ou‘ou Ridge Trail

Address: Kuli'ou'ou Valley Trail, Honolulu, HI 96821, USA

Park

“Awesome hike! Mixed with the thrill of not knowing if you are lost 😵‍💫 Trail is poorly marked and at times not obvious. Only one pic to tease. This is not even the best shot. Many other amazing views, even if you don't summit.”

Waʻahila Ridge State Recreation Area

Address: 1600 Ruth Pl, Honolulu, HI 96816, USA

Park

“Super great spot for an early morning walk through the woods. The pine trees are gorgeous. The eucalyptus trees are pretty to look at and pleasant to smell while walking through the woods. Recommend wearing shoes when it’s raining. Limited parking. Great for picnicking in the immediate area of the parking lot.”

Koko Head District Park

Address: 423 Kaumakani St, Honolulu, HI 96825, USA

“Definitely worth a trip and the experience. Amazing place to shoot great photos also!!! “Awesome views once you're close to the top. It took us 3 hours and 16 minutes both ways but it was definitely a walk to remember. You can see Koko head to the left and Diamond head to the right. The ocean looks so serene on both east and south sides. Once you hit the top, You can see the east side ocean and a small island in the middle. Beautiful and breathtaking is all I can say!!! It is a longer hike so we might or might not do it again. But I took lots of pictures ??”

Lyon Arboretum

Address: 3860 Manoa Rd, Honolulu, HI 96822, USA

“Beautiful place! Well maintained trails, but slick when raining. The poncho at the gift shop was very useful since we had a downpour. The falls at the end of the hike were gorgeous, especially since it had been raining.”
