“We love eating here. It’s family friendly and a laid back atmosphere. The catfish poboy is probably my favorite but it’s huge. I usually have to take home half. The salads are so fresh. Their boiled crawfish is on point! The only thing I didn’t like is the fried crawfish. It’s fried in a cornmeal batter, which I’m accustomed to a flour batter. It’s a family owned and run restaurant. The staff are friendly, courteous, and treat you like family.”

“The atmosphere was really nice, the waitress was excellent, fast and attentive service. Tried the twice fried duck and it was not my favorite. The skin was not even close to crispy. The fat was not rendered and so most of your bite it fat. Because of having so much fat the duck meat itself had no flavor. The sauce the duck was cooked in was delicious. The Philly cheese panini had no flavor and not enough meat to bread. The rotisserie chicken was wonderful as was the grilled fish. Both had lots of flavor and perfect seasoning.”

The ladies are very friendly.They have a unique covered sitting area where there's a nice play area for children. They also have free Bibles sitting out if, anyone decides they want one. “On our way back home from a daycation, we decided to stop for breakfast in Slidell. We were very intrigued and inquisitive about La Pines Cafe. We had seen and heard of it being on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. So glad we did. As we walked up to the cafe, we saw a crowd of people waiting outside the cafe. For a Sunday right in the peak of the breakfast rush, we anticipated waiting for a little bit. (That was fine) But... We didn't! We were quickly seated and was asked our drink orders and handed some menus. As we looked through all the amazing choices, we decided to get... Me: The Chicken Fried Platter Breakfast with 2 over easy eggs, home fries, and a biscuit. She: The Garden Omelet(Pepper Jack Cheese, Onions, Artichokes, Tomatoes, Spinach, Mushrooms) with some toast. The shrimp and fish were cooked to perfection and the onion rings were thick cut and fresh. Had the bread pudding for dessert and it was unique, with cherries and other fruit in it. Pretty sure there was some apple in there with a nice cinnamon taste. We went for dinner on a Thursday night and were seated immediately. The service time was average and the waitress was friendly. “Full disclosure: I work here. In all honesty this is the most efficient and clean of all the restaurants I’ve worked at over the years. The food is… well, it’s Domino’s: not really any better or worse than other locations though the current staff deserve your patronage (and MASSIVE tip) more than most. I would like to note that delivery drivers make MUCH LESS THAN minimum wage and therefore literally depend on your generous tips for their living. Furthermore, relatively recent changes in the percentage of tips that are “credit” means they only wind up receiving 75% of your tip unless you tip cash. And lastly, drivers ONLY receive your tip and are just barely compensated for their mileage (which on the average delivery amounts to little over $1): they DO NOT receive any portion of the delivery fee. They have to buy their own gas, insurance and vehicle maintenance/payments ALL out of YOUR tips and HOPE to have enough left over to pay rent, feed themselves and their family, etc.”

I got the cheeseburger (of course an ultimate classic). And my dad got the blackened fish plate. Neither one of us were disappointed! Burger had a good solid flavor and seasoned well. Juicy and cooked thoroughly but NOT overdone! I went with sweet potato fries because I like to try them out at different locations, and I would gladly order again! Will be looking forward to my next visit. When my dad comes to visit he always mentions trying to stop in for one of those cheeseburgers I had. So I think he is sold on them and he never got to taste mine. And the service was very friendly as well!”
