Dardenne Greenway at BaratHaven Park

Address: BaratHaven Trail, Dardenne Prairie, MO 63368, USA

Park

“🗺 Dardenne Greenway - BaratHaven #️⃣ Greenway 9 of 28 🚴 4.5 mile loop ☀️ 0% Shaded 📈 9/10 📝 Gorgeous greenway! One of my new favorites. I used to live nearby and my wife and I would run around the lake, but I didn’t know that the greenway extended beyond the lake until today. It’s funny, because the lake isn’t even my favorite part – there’s a prairie across the street at Bluebird Meadow Park that is stunning. There’s not a lot of signage, but if you’re at the parking lot by the lake and go right, you’ll soon come upon a fork – left to go around the lake and right to go to the prairie. I liked the prairie so much that I did two laps! The greenway itself doesn’t really have any shade, but there’s another short trail beyond the soccer field that is shaded. There’s also a short nature trail that goes through the woods and by the creek, but it’s washed out and dangerous. I’d recommend sticking to the lake and the prairie. Bonus: with the big sky of the prairie and the reflections on the lake, sunsets here are beautiful!”

“My visit to Broemmelsiek Park was a refreshing and enjoyable outdoor experience. This expansive park, nestled in the natural beauty of O'Fallon, MO, offered a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The park's well-maintained trails, picturesque landscapes, and various recreational activities made it an ideal destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts like myself. I had a fantastic time exploring the park's offerings and immersing myself in the tranquility of nature. Broemmelsiek Park boasts a network of scenic trails that cater to different skill levels. Whether you're an avid hiker or prefer a leisurely stroll, there are options for everyone. The trails wind through rolling hills, lush fields, and peaceful woodlands, providing a diverse and picturesque experience. The park's natural beauty was a major highlight of my visit. I was captivated by the serene lakes, wildflower-filled meadows, and the variety of wildlife that calls the park home. It's a haven for birdwatchers, and I spotted several species during my visit. Broemmelsiek Park offers a plethora of recreational activities for individuals and families alike. The fishing lakes provide an opportunity for anglers to unwind, and the picnic areas are perfect for enjoying a meal in the great outdoors. Additionally, the park's dog-friendly trails allowed me to bring my furry companion along for the adventure. While the park's natural beauty is its main attraction, some visitors might find the lack of facilities a slight drawback. There are restrooms and picnic areas available, but additional amenities like water fountains or food concessions could enhance the overall experience. Although the trails are well-maintained, some visitors may find the trail signage a bit confusing or insufficient. Improved and clearer trail markers would be helpful for first-time visitors, ensuring they can navigate the trails with ease. Katy Trail - Augusta Trailhead

Address: Katy Trail, Augusta, MO 63332, USA

Park

“Great ride. Six days of riding and hardly a car seen or heard. Much fun cycling and visiting with people from around the country. Birds, rabbits, deer, marmots, and turtles to see. Bridges, tunnels, and trailhead stations gave character. Communities welcoming. Most of the ride is very rural, so come prepared and have a well laid out plan. Some small town stores are only open on weekends”

Broemmelsiek Park Off-Leash Dog Area

Address: 1795 Hwy Dd, Defiance, MO 63341, USA

Park

“Without a doubt the BEST dog park in the area! It's free and absolutely massive. The grounds are well taken care of and the lake is beautiful - there's also a dock to practice dock diving! We've never had a negative experience with anyone else's dogs either. Owner always seem to be attentive and mindful of how their dogs are behaving. The area surrounding the lake is a combination of pebbles and then a very large grassy area for the dogs to play in. They replant the grass as needed and just re-seeded earlier this year towards the front of the park. The lake is also clean and free from any weird algae or other growths. There are always tons of tennis balls and lots of dogs there! I'd recommend this park even if you don't have a dog because it's such a blast watching everyone else's pups run around and play in the water. Just make sure you wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting wet/messy, because there are A LOT of wet (and happy) dogs here. Be ready to book a bath afterwards or visit a self-service dog wash to clean up your pup/s. :)”
