Manzano Mountains State Park

Address: Co Rd B062, Mountainair, NM 87036, USA

Park

“Back again the April in our 38 Renegade. Sites are limited for bigger rigs so make reservations. Monday, April 8th and the park is full. We were passing thru and could only find one site, #8, that was even close to fitting us. Very tight fit with a jeep beside us. But, very pretty location. Electric is 30A & no water connection. Water is available at several spigots around the park. There is a central dump. Our site is located at a Y, so the opening allows for 100mbs of Starlink. AT&T service is 4 bars, 20lbs but when streaming it continually stutters (bandwidth limit?) except on VPN which hides the streaming. Easier to deploy Starlink. There are several trails here. Come prepared. Roads in/out are muddy after rains and they have warning signs. Nearby Mountainair has very limited supplies.”

Pueblo Montaño Picnic Area and Trailhead

Address: 4100-4112 Montaño Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120, USA

“Golden hues everywhere and the sculptures are magnificent. Short or long trails that can lead to trails along the Rio Grande.”

Tortugas Mountain

Address: Las Cruces, NM 88011, USA

Park

“Fairly simple hike, lots of beautiful views. Definitely worth the hike, lots of different trails”

Montgomery Park

Address: 3700 San Mateo Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, USA

Park

“Stopped by to get a run 🏃🏻‍♂️ in while passing through to CA. The park is big and one lap is about 1 mile. I was there between 830p-915pm and there were still plenty of people walking or playing in the open grass areas. There were also a couple of police cars in the area chatting it up, so I felt safe. Probably a better park to be in during the morning and afternoon, but served it purpose for me. Small parking lot for 10-15 cars, plus plenty of street parking.”

Las Cruces KOA Journey

Address: 814 Weinrich Rd, Las Cruces, NM 88007, USA

Campground Park Rv park Lodging

“We’ve been to this KOA twice now, and we thoroughly enjoy it. The tent sites are nice, and the outdoor kitchen, pool, and upgraded restrooms are great. This place has amazing views eastward over Las Cruces, and if you can catch the sunrise over the Organ Mountains, it won’t disappoint. Also, many KOA campgrounds are too close to the interstate and are extremely loud as a result. This one is just far enough away to be quiet, but close enough to be convenient.”

Valley Gardens Park

Address: 4629 Sorrel Ln SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105, USA

Park

“This is a beautiful little park, lots of grass and open space, great for bringing pets to run around and burn off some energy!q”

Soledad Canyon Day Use Area

Address: 13300 Soledad Canyon Rd, Las Cruces, NM 88011, USA

Park

“Came across this hike on Google Maps and really loved it. The trails on Google Maps aren't entirely accurate but AllTrails is. I recommended taking your first right when the path splits and then navigating towards the trail to the falls. It's not easy to get lost or anything! Falls were a trickle when I was there in March but still beautiful. The rock formations were my favorite! And it's free.”

Durand Open Space

Address: 4750 Isleta Blvd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105, USA

Park

“Nice clean open space - you can opt to loop the old airfield up front, stroll along the flat paths on either side of the irrigation ditch (many homes along this section are pretty fancy with horses, goats or llamas), or head down to the trail in the Bosque along the Rio Grande. Contrary to other reviewers’ reports there IS a Bosque trail. From the parking lot head straight across the paved section of the arroyo, cross the ditch path, and go down to the left (heading north). There is no river trail to the right (south). The river trail goes in a loop, part of which is wooded and part of which parallels the river more closely a with a couple of offshoots that will take you to the river itself. This is a really nice section of the Bosque, especially in the fall when you often can see lots of Sandhill cranes and Canadian geese. The trail is never crowded.”

Eagle Park

Address: 305 Eagle Ln, Belen, NM 87002, USA

Park

“I've come for two events at this park, both well organized. Although the events were small, they were memorable. I will continue to make the drive from Albuquerque to visit events in this park. Great job guys.”

Universe Sports Park

Address: Albuquerque, NM 87114, USA

Park

“Absolutely loved the huge field there was so much room for the kids to run around and play. Absolutely beautiful views as well.”

Phil Chacon Park

Address: 7600 Southern Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, USA

Park

“I live in the area of this amazing but totally under utilized park. There is so much potential for this park and especially for this area. The people are amazing and deserve so much more than what they currently experience or know. This park could use an upgrade and added benefits that I plan on advocating for...such as a skate park! So if you want to help me or know of some great ways to make this happen please hit me up!! 💖🙏”

Haynes Community Center and Park

Address: 2006 Grande Blvd SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124, USA

“Very nice park. You can bring your pets. You can Grill and Barbecue. They got shade for tables which is very nice. They have restrooms, basketball & Tennis courts. A playground and lots of swings and grass”

Connie's Photo Park

Address: 2881 NM-14, Madrid, NM 87010, USA

Park

“Take the scenic route from ABQ to Santa Fe and pass through Madrid! Take a fee moments and stop at Connie's Photo Park! It's free but there is a donation box suggesting $2. We had a good time playing around in the cut outs and definitely left some cash to support the project! Thanks for a fun quick stop!”

Leonora Curtin Wetland Preserve

Address: 49A W Frontage Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87507, USA

Park

“This place will inspire you. All four seasons you will find beautiful scenery. The sound of frogs, birds, fish, and cricket. The smell of nature, the hug of a cool breeze, the sound of water running in the acequias. I find this place to be so unique and inspiring. Visit El Rancho De Las Golondrinas, you will no regret it.”

Grecian Park

Address: Camino Floretta NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107, USA

Park

“The servings are huge, so come hungry! The food was very flavorful and had a great presentation. I forgot to take pictures, though 🤦. The pistachio baklava was out of this world!”

Westgate Community Park

Address: Valley View Dr SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121, USA

Park

“Very fun and interactive park, always pretty busy so definitely a great place to socialize while your kids play, the playground is a ton of fun for the kids. They have a huge dog park where your pets can run free in a gated area. They have a soccer field that is maintained. They usually have a guy with a cart on the weekends selling all kinds of snack so it's a great place all around for anyone. The only negative thing I have to say about it is people tend to litter too much so there is trash randomly throughout the park.”

Sandia Foothills Open Space

Address: Albuquerque, NM 87111, USA

Park

“Really nice place to hike the view of the city! Cool trails small and local feel close to town. :)”

Anderson Highlands Park

Aguirre Spring Campground

Address: Aguirre Springs Rd, Las Cruces, NM 88011, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“This place is cool! Great views, pretty hike, no hook ups and lots are not all level. We have a 26ft motorhome and found one pull through lot. Only one way roads so find a spot and take it. Only 35 min to White sands. No dump station that I saw. Water avail at the gate... Bring a long hose. Will come back when we pass through. Thanks!!”

Venus Park

Address: 181 NM-344, Edgewood, NM 87015, USA

Park

“Nice park. Clean.”

Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park

Address: 5000 Calle Del Norte, Las Cruces, NM 88005, USA

Park

“We didn’t have much time at the park since we arrived late. Visitors center was typical. Trail that we walked about a mile of was well maintained and relatively flat. Beautiful from what we saw. Talked to the park ranger for a few minutes and he was very friendly and informative. Will come back to finish exploring and give ourselves more time here. They close at 4pm.”

Welcome Park

Address: Belen, NM 87002, USA

Park

Heritage Hills Park

Address: 7015 Ventura Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109, USA

Park

“This park is excellent. It's got a ton of space and a great view. It's a great place to take your dog or go on a walk with some friends. I hate that they have soccer here though on the weekends. The kids always leave a ton of trash everywhere. There's a great deal of shade here though so it's a great summer park.”

Perea Nature Trail

Address: 22759-22825 US-550, San Ysidro, NM 87053, USA

Park

“Such a nice, easy hiking trail. Lots of beautiful birds and plants. I loved the signs with plant names, I see these plants all over NM and didn't know the names of many of them. There's one trash can at the entrance and a sign in sheet. Two benches along the trail and one wooden shack to view wildlife. Dog friendly but there's no poop bags, so make sure to bring some along.”

La Luz Trailhead

Address: Forest Service 333 Rd, Albuquerque, NM 87122, USA

Park

“Wow! Amazing hiking trail. As previous reviewers mention come prepared. For me it was less the difficulty of the terrain and more the 4000ft increase in elevation. I am pretty fit for a 40 year old but my legs were jello. That being said getting up to the crest was magical. Some tips: -The difficult terrain starts about halfway when you get to the rock fall area. Wear hiking boots to help with rolling your ankles. Pay attention to where you step. -The time displayed to complete this hike by google maps is off by about 2 hours. Does not seem to be updated with all the current trail switchbacks. -Pay attention to the trail, had to double back a couple of times to find the correct trail. -Try to be there for sunset. -Trail and parking close at 8:00pm”

Aden Lava Flow Wilderness

Address: Anthony, NM 88021, USA

Park

“The last few miles is narrow and a little rough but most SUVs shouldn't have a problem getting there. I took my full size truck and left some pin-striping. They are there to remember good times. I lost the hiking trail a few times on the way up but my dog has a better sense of direction than I do, so I let her take the lead. Really nice hike. I've never been to an area like this so for me I found it awesome! Not a lot of people out when I went. I only ran into two couples out there. My dog enjoyed the hike off the leash but didn't appreciate the dozen or so thorns I had to pull out. The only wild life I saw was birds. I went on this hike at the end of January. No wind. A little chilly with clear skies. I did go later in the spring where the temperatures were pushing 90 plus. Bring plenty of water. I wouldn't recommend the hike during the summer months. I'll be back.”

Santa Fe Village Dog Park

Address: 5700 Bogart St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120, USA

Park

“Nice dog park. Lots of cans for poo. Two areas for dogs big and small”

Fourth of July Trailhead

Address: Torreen Tajique Loop Rd, Estancia, NM 87016, USA

Park

“Weather was overcast with a light rain, we found it perfect. We took a short hike. Drove a short way along the primitive road and enjoyed the changing colors of the fall leaves.”

Indian Hollow Trailhead

Address: Las Cruces, NM 88011, USA

Park

“The best part of reviewing this camp ground is not revealing my favorite camp site! 😁 you'll have to drive around and find your own. Keep in mind that there is an upper loop which is great for camp trailers and RV's. The upper and center area for individual camping. Lower loop can accommodate larger groups. i.e scouts, retreats . Fire pits and BBQ'rs are available as well as picnic tables. Clear nights provide perfect opportunities for creative astrophotography. There is a 4 mile loop hike which is pretty awesome. It is family and pet friendly. Bring water as it is somewhat physical. Elevation may play a factor as the trails and switchbacks are plentiful. Scenic views from camp or on the tails makes for a great trip! "SIDE NOTES!" 1. PLEASE pick up your trash and place in the provided trash bin. 2. Please try and keep children semi quiet, I know its a camping place but others are trying to soak in the peace and quiet as you should too! 3. Please don't play your music loud and late into the night! 4. Leave home at home, arguing and yelling have no place in the outdoors... It's too easy to be respectful. Thank you and keep nature fun🤘”
