“I work in the healthcare field and new to Pittsburgh. I “TALK” for a living assisting individuals with their substance abuse and mental health challenges. I had some work done at a dentist office, did not understand terminology; basically advised lowest cost possibly as I was also dealing with “LIFE”. What started as a root canal with a crown and post inserted into my jaw fell out with my constant grinding. I have anxiety so bad that I grind my teeth 24/7.. the action is relaxing to me but my teeth suffer as a result. The solution from that dentist was to now do a “bridge”. More cost effective compared to implant, again unaware of what that meant, I agreed. The perfectly good teeth I had on each side were shaved down- fang like and covered with 3 fake teeth. This lasted maybe a few months then came out.. grinding. Thank GOD for the masks at this point. It really affected my self esteem and self confidence. Fast forward to 1/23..I called Dr. Murphy’s office, was accepted as a new client and scheduled for a cleaning,X-ray and consult.. the standard practice. Dr. Murphy LISTENED to my situation and ASKED what I thought would be the best solution. Of course I would like implants but can’t afford them so I am going with a partial denture. He scheduled the extraction for the NEXT DAY.. sure it happened to fall on my birthday but I was so excited to get these fangs out of my mouth (looking like a permanent Halloween character) that birthday didn’t matter. He had them out in 10 minutes.. no pain.. still no pain the next day!! I have a NEW dentist in Pittsburgh that I highly recommend, Doctor Pat… ”
