“Our love affair with Teppanyaki Kyoto started almost a decade ago. We stumbled upon this restaurant when trying to experience authentic Japanese cuisine. As my husband and I are originally from Long Island NY and NYC, we had once had many restaurants that fit the bill. That changed, however, after moving to Pittsburgh. That said, none of them can hold a candle to Teppanyaki Kyoto. We have dined in restaurants with several Michelin stars and have often wondered why this restaurant has yet to earn one. They deserve it. We decided to have a meal here to get a baseline before leaving for our honeymoon in Japan, that way the experience would be fresh in our minds. There was not a single bite we had anywhere in Japan... not in Tokyo, not in the countryside... not near Mount Fuji, that exceeded the taste, preparation or quality of this restaurant. It is 100% authentic and an absolute gem. We are so lucky to have this wonderful restaurant in our city. When guests arrive from NY and beyond, this is always a MUST and our guests always request that at some point we go here for lunch or dinner. In the just under a decade we have been going to this restaurant it has ALWAYS been consistent, delicious, never a mishap or mistake, never a rude waiter or waitress and above all, we have always been welcomed for a delicious meal. My son and family, came from Texas to celebrate my granddaughter’s 2nd birthday so we all drove to West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Having been to this restaurant many years ago, we decided to try again. We weren’t disappointed in food at all. I didn’t give 5 stars for a couple of things. One they charged for water and after a while there were staff members kept coming and giving strange looks at the table as if they wanted us to finish fast and leave. Unfamiliar with the area for places to eat a quick google search gave us this place and we are all so glad that it did. The service was fast and efficient. The food was outstanding and in large quantity and quality. I am so glad we got to try Snyders. We all had the Famous fish in different variations with multiple appetizers and sides. The wedding soup was absolutely perfect. We all agreed that anytime we are in the area, which will be more frequent with the expansion of the bike trail along the river, we will be sure to stop here for a bite to eat. “My son and I have been coming here for years and have nothing but good things to say about the business and it's employees. All the employees are great, and the owner is super cool. I have heard many good things about their kitchen, but I personally haven't eaten there before so I can't comment on the food. However, they have a decent selection of alcohol at very fair prices. I also like how you can buy singles of certain drinks, or customize a 6 pack of a variety of different drinks. This location (E. Washington St.) is much smaller than the Mr. B's on Highland Ave., therefore it has a much smaller selection of alcohol than the Highland Ave. restaurant. The place has always been clean and, although I've only used the restroom once or twice, it was also clean. In fairness I can only give it 4 stars because I do like the place for several reasons, but I can't personally comment on the food. That being said, if the food is as good as I've heard it is, it very possibly would get a 5 star rating. If I ever do order food, I'll edit this review and I'll probably be rating it even higher. The bottom line is I'd definitely recommend this place and will continue to patronize it. One last thing, and maybe I'm overthinking it, but I originally was going to rate this place 3 stars since I haven't had their food and can't comment on everything, but then I noticed that a 3 star rating only means that "it's okay", but 4 stars means that "I liked it". So even though I haven't had the food, I still rate it more than " Okay". The prices, convenience and people make it better than just "okay".”
