Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farms

Address: 10621 Pioneer Farms Dr, Austin, TX 78754, USA

Park

“I was having a hard time knowing what to expect from the website and the few reviews I read. Attempting to describe our fun experience. We visited here early October so it was still a bit warm. There is a lot of walking involved if you want to see all of the cottages on the farm as you follow along a trail. There is a map you can take a picture of at the front but I didn’t find it super helpful as the numbers don’t map well to the various cottages / structures you see on the property. Take plenty drinking water. Each cottage you visit is setup with an 1800s theme. Old style living rooms, bedrooms, kitchen outside separated from the house, bathroom outside, wells, storage sheds buried half way under the ground. There are animal coups spread through the property. We visited close to Halloween so lots of pumpkins decorations. In short, there is a lot to do here if you like adventure and history. We didn’t do the narrated tour but I bet that 1.5 hour tour would be super Interesting. We passed on that assuming our 4.5 year old would want to deviate from the tour.. We plan to come back later in the month to experience pumpkin nights which happens each day of the week except Tuesdays. Sounds like a fun festival in the park with a lots of lights decorated across the park, food trucks and pumpkins carvings.”

Sandy Creek Park

The sign before entering was showing lot of information and we added images for all signs which can help to new visitors. This park on Lake Travis with primitive campsites & picnic areas offers swimming, fishing & more. Please do visit here have lot of fun activities.”

Open Air Resorts

Address: 25928 Haynie Flat Rd, Spicewood, TX 78669, USA

Rv park Campground Park Lodging

“We had a great time at Open Air. We stayed in the Lucille which was spacious enough for a couple but could probably fit 2-3 more kids/adults. The unit was well equipped and we found the beds to be firm but comfortable. The resort was quiet and had extra bathrooms and showers - we didn't try out the other amenities. Our only con was a few cleanliness issues in the unit mainly that the floors were dirty - so much that the bottom of husband's feet were black after walking on them. We would still stay again - just bring our swifter or wear house shoes.”

“The Canyon Creek neighborhood is great. The HOA recently updated the pool, which is a great place for families to swim in the neighborhood.”

Bamboo Your Privacy

Address: 6305 Wilcab Rd, Austin, TX 78721, USA

Park Store

“Absolutely love the Graceful bamboo I purchased from Amy & Claudia. It's high quality, well cared for and I can't believe how much it's grown in just 3 weeks! They were very patient and met with me several times answering my many questions and helping me to pick the right bamboo for my privacy fence. I choose the 15 gallon size to quickly fill in my neighbor's view of my patio. It's already provided some privacy and I can't wait till next year when it fills in! Plenty of water is the key!”

McKinney Falls State Park

Address: 5808 McKinney Falls Pkwy, Austin, TX 78744, USA

Park

“Nice state park, the maps and trails are a little confusing tbh. They encourage you to get the map via a QR code instead of a paper one, and the paper one they do have has less info. But since you’re probably going to lose cellular service you might want to save the map or take a screenshot or something! And there are too many people here who do not have the right etiquette. We saw so much trash including beer cans just thrown into pools of water! And families with children blocking the trail (which crosses the river and is kind of narrow - so you really do need to wait for them to clear the area) plus the children screaming at the top of their lungs with the parents right next to them doing nothing at all. That said, the park is pretty nice and well maintained! Nice restrooms, nice picnic area and playground for children, helpful rangers and although the website suggests you print the day pass out, we showed them the online receipt and they gave us a printed out parking pass for the car Definitely do recommend buying your reservations online as the park fills up, especially on long weekends and holidays. Also ask the rangers for less crowded trails so you don’t have to deal with disrespectful people who don’t follow park rules!”
