“Just an amazing place. There are so many trails! We camp with two kids and can easily use the Bath houses, fish, canoe in the reservoir, and walk/bike/scooter the camping area. We’ve always found the clientele respectful and quiet and the hosts we’ve had have kept the loops so clean and organized. The pools are so much fun (when they’re open) and perfect for small kids and adults.”

“5 stars because there's just so much to do, food is good and it's especially nice there's a connecting pizza place. Go cart, virtual reality gaming, arcade, lazer room, and of course bowling. My family and I enjoyed at least three hours doing everything and it got me out of the house. Altogether, a day well spent.”

“Great family experience!! We checked into a cabin on Friday @ 4PM and left the following Monday around 1030AM and all around everyone with us had the best time. My husband, myself, our 3 year old, 17 year old, and my parents all came for the trip and did not leave disappointed. The cabin slept 8 and was very comfortable. The only suggestion with the cabin is more trash bags and a broom. We did a guided tour during a Hiking/crafting activity scheduled and really enjoyed the knowledge Denise had. The pool was great with the basketball hoops and swim up bar. You couldnt keep us off the adult water slides and the kiddie pool was perfect for our 3 year old. Shopped way to much at the general store but it was super convenient. Did not eat at the restaurant on property. Grilled at our cabin or went to local restaurants. Being able to rent a golf cart for a great price was also a great feature. We understand that the campgrounds are still under construction and look forward to visiting next year. I do wish there was a gym. I am an avid runner so I enjoyed early mornings around the site, the weather was perfect for it.”

“Love this campground! If you are in a tent, the closer to the water, the better. Otherwise, you can hear the noise from the road. We have stayed in 169 and 186, loved them both. There was shade, a lot of room for the kids to run around and play in the sand. The picture is from site 186.”

“This is our go to campground. There is so much to do for adults and children. They have their own beach parking lot as well. The shuttle also comes through the campground to take you to the beach. The store on site has what you need. Staff is helpful and friendly, bathrooms are clean, and pools are clean.”

“Hiked to the falls from here, everything was beautiful and everyone was friendly and helpful. We even had deer standing right off the trail who didn't seem to mind us at all as we hiked past, and then as we we're going back out to skyline we saw a little bear sitting right at the edge of the woods. The whole stop was incredible.”

“Really nice state park right outside of Richmond. Plenty of trails and many run along the James River. Some of the trails are shared with horses. The restrooms and other facilities are all fairly new and clean. The campsites are nice too. Definitely recommended for hiking.”

“Amazing Spot. Be aware of bears, follow safety procedures with food and other smell-ables. Not an easy hike from the beginning of the East Inlet Trail but worth the amazing view. I would suggest against bringing children. The site is completely surrounded by water and there is a narrow bridge to get across to the campsite (See Attached Photos).”

“We have been coming to Candy Hill for many years. Easy off and easy on the highway. Although we mainly use it as a stopover on our way to Florida only staying a day or two, we have stayed longer and have explored the beautiful Winchester area. It is always clean and well maintained. We particularly like the luxury sites with cement pads that have been added in the past few years. They continue to make updates and improvements to their sites and we applaud their efforts. The park has a nice fenced dog area with plenty of “poop bag” stations throughout the park. We have always enjoyed our visits and will definitely return.”
