“Mount Vernon is much more than just the historic house tour although that is great by itself. The orientation center is an interesting museum with exhibits to help illustrate the life and times of Washington. The inn has good period foods and the farm is Interesting. Well worth a day.”

“Beautiful scenery. Stunning views. In the fall, you get to see the amazing colors of the trees blend in and the views of the Potomac River. Such a blessing to have this beautiful place close by. Take the kids for a morning or afternoon walk on the weekends. I take my out of town guests here as well and they are always mesmerized by the beautiful views.”

“I always start at the building closest to the parking lot and never make it very far, so I started at the glass gallery and after 2 hours didn't get to see more than the single building. The lesson is that when you talk to the artists you will need a lot more time than you think.”

“Love the living history and wood smoke of a colonial farm in 1771. This is a picture of the kids militia; they are about to March around. They have some simple food and colonial printing, bookbinding, crafts, toys, and leather goods available at their market fair. Fun for kids and historians all!”

“When visiting WDC be sure to make a day-trip to Mt Vernon. See how The Nation's First President hosted his guests and ran his plantation with slave labor. One interesting architectural feature is the faux marble paint on the exterior of the main house and the separate kitchen buildings.”

“Mount Vernon is a lesser publicized historic site in the greater Washington, D.C. area. It isn’t run by the National Park Service. However, it is magnificent and beautifully kept. It’s well worth the small price for admission, currently $20 adults, $12 age 6-11, $19 62+, kids 5 and under are free. It’s a large property but a pleasant walk to complete the mostly self guided tour. The mansion is guided and depending on how crowded it is they might assign you a specific time to attend the mansion tour. You can show up anytime after your assigned time, you don’t have to show up exactly at that time. Mount Vernon is kept up like a working farm. It changes throughout the year, along with the seasons. As do the decorations around the property. I’ve been during the Summer and at Thanksgiving and both times had unique aspects to them. There are a few short movies that provide some history about Mount Vernon, George Washington, and related topics. They are very good as well. Overall, this is a great site to see and you won’t be disappointed.”

“4/5. Steak was cooked. Too much vegetables. Vietnamese-owned establishment. Local kid plays to the beat of "Africa" for entertainment. Would like to see more variety. Very Quality meat for the price ;). Dry aged in the dank conditions. 8/10 would come again.”
