“It is in to see the segregated waiting rooms titled colored and white. The difference between the amenities and space is Stark.”

“Interesting and relevant perspective on our country's origins and history. And who doesn't want to learn more about Dolley Madison? The people were kind, the tour knowledgeable and The Exchange Cafe soup amazing.”

“This home is very well preserved and great to see. There are guided tours but only every half hour so if you don't plan your trip well, you can end up having some time to kill. They have a tour on slavery which was very powerful but also a tour on the Constitution but these are only available once a day. Everyone who is able should see this at some point. It is a powerful building and you learn much about Madison and the time in which he lived.”

“Price is nice and close to home. A lot of history and potential archeology. A great history from the ground up with personal letters, equipment and stories. There is a great BBQ restaurant right next door! Get the small portions. Don't forget to donate at the museum. They are beginning restoration of the train station soon. Don't let your history, my history, our history fade into some artificial narrative of the future. The past is part of our heritage and our culture-good, bad and ugly, but it's ours and it's what binds us together.”

“This place is tucked away near Montpelier Virginia. Don't confuse this with Montpelier, the home of Madison. Take a nice ride in the country to this location. You will not regret it.”

“Beautiful grounds and a nice staff! There are several pieces of history here from when Patrick Henry lived here until it was purchased as a historical site in the 1950's. There are many options throughout the week and weekends to get involved with the society to participate in events for the family. I recommend doing a family picnic here. It peaceful and the pavilion is free. The tour of the house is helpful with learning more about Patrick Henry's role in Scotchtown. They have a gift shop for those who want to take a memory with them. They have recently added a self guided cell phone tour. In my opinion it is awesome as you can do it alone or with your family at your own pace. Essentially you dial a number and there are # prompts thorough out the property and the cell guide will explain more concerning that piece of the property. Best part about it is that free!”
