“Happy birthday Robert Edward Lee! Stratford Hall was the place to be today. There were costumed interpreters, guides, and a variety of informed docents who helped make the great house come alive. We enjoyed talking with Martha , who is a cornerstone of the program. Thank you all for a memorable day.”

“This museum has a quaint library dedicated to fishing, hunting, and horse riding. It is open to the public for free. There are also sporting artifacts on display in the library together with some very old books to peruse. The museum itself is open to the public on Wednesdays, something I hope to do with my wife and kids when I get the chance.”

“This B&B sets the bar high for others to try and follow. Upon entering and traveling down the tree lined drive way you come face to face with history. This birth place of James Madison is inspiring and comforting all in one. Michelle and Brett are simply amazing, taking you into history and making you feel right at home. Not only can you spend hours touring and reading about this fantastic location. But you can enjoy tea, breakfast and an amazing dinner. Located along the Rappahannock river makes it a perfect venue for relaxation and weddings. “My wife and I really enjoyed visiting Ellwood Manor. The tour was free. As soon as we opened the door, we were greeted by a friendly guide. He gave the two of us a tour. It was great just the three of us. We were able to talk to the guide and ask questions. The guide was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the history of the manor and the stories he told, including the surrounding battles. Photography is allowed, so we were able to get great pictures. The manor was nice considering I was there mainly to see where Stonewall Jackson's arm was buried. After the tour, my wife and I started walking around the grounds. We went through the hedges and walked to the marker for Jackson's arm. Google Maps got us to the parking area of Ellwood Manor.”

This is maintained and operated by the National Park Service located off of Highway 3 while traveling west. There are maps and information located underneath the trees and you can look across and see what the Soldiers on the battlefield would have seen that day.”

“Great place to learn about the childhood of George Washington. Spend the time time to take the tour of George Washington’s home. It is built on the original location. All the furnishings are hand crafted reproductions using 18th century building practices. You can touch and sit on everything! The film was excellent as is the museum.”

“According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.”
