“Great place to visit and see a real historic old mill and how it operates. This place is the best kept secret around as we went there and there was only one other couple. The man that showed us how everything worked was very informative and polite. Can't believe others have not discovered this place and we only found because we happened to be driving by...true Virginia history in Aldie. It is free too but we left a nice donation because it was well worth it.”

“We hosted my son's birthday here and the place was absolutely perfect! The kids had a blast. There was plenty of room and the history was interesting. However the mining was their most favorite part! Todd was the best. He was patient, available to help our group and was always kind with the kids! It was truly the best party we've had!”

“Simply one of the best. The gentlemen who work here were knowledgeable and very helpful. Much more to see in the museum than you would think from looking at it from the outside. Of particular interest to me was the bone with the musket ball still lodged in it.”

“Really enjoyed visiting the home and studio of Gari Melchers. We went on Veterans Day and it was cold and cloudy. We will go back in the Spring when all the gardens are in full bloom. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. It costs us $10 per person which was a reasonable price. Wonderful to learn about the history of a home we frequently passed by for 25 years. Art and history enthusiasts will enjoy this!”

“I was heading to Richmond and stopped in for a break. Wow, I was pleasantly surprised that this is a fantastic museum with a wonderful staff and a multiple of neat exhibits. The staff member walked me through all of the exhibits and explain the significance of each one. If I had more time I could have spend at least another two hours. I highly recommend anyone driving through this area to stop and check it out.”

“My mom and me found about this museum and went to visit it one day. It is amazingly detailed museum about American military history. I was very impressed by one gentleman, who I can only assume was a vet volunteering, who knew a lot of details about one of the displays. And the displays were first class but also focused a lot on the Home Front which is a nice change of pace. I took lot of photos and learned a lot about local history as well. And the whole visit was very pleasant. It was amazing just how much they put into the space they had available!”

“This is a great museum especially for kids. They have age appropriate scavenger hunts which are short, but well done. My kids love to go and learn about our town.”

“We had an awesome morning here looking around. They have a scavenger hunt kids can do, which my daughter LOVED. She ended up getting a pin, a magnet, and a few stamps. This made the experience more enjoyable for her for sure.”

“A GREAT way to spend the day, especially if a) you have kids b) you have and afternoon/evening flight out of Dulles airport or c) have any affection for aviation. We had a flight out of Dulles Airport at 5pm and I know from being a little kid and going to the other air and space museum on the national mall that the air and space museums are just the coolest at any age. We spent about 2 hours and didn't quite get to everything, but felt satisfied. I would not go there unless you have at least 1.5 hours to check it out. I think the average visit is 3 hours. I highly recommend it!”

“Great place to get the background of the history of Loudoun county. Also, very kid friendly. Lots of photos with descriptions & maps. Very interesting. Plan a short movie with a docent who loves her job.”
