“My 4 year old son was very apprehensive about going to school on Friday’s only at Warwick River. I had some horrible mornings with him defying me about it but the women in the office were beyond wonderful and worked with me. They literally saved my sanity on those mornings! Now he has adjusted and walks in happily.. I am so happy to have found a warm supportive staff here ❤️”

“Mark is a great teacher for anyone. If your child is interested in learning to play the drums, this is the guy you want to teach him/her with all the fundamentals of playing music and having fun with it. He works very well with people and gives good advice and lesson plans for his students along with sound encouragement to keep the student interested. He offers private one on one lessons in his home studio at reasonable prices and makes the experience comfortable for all. I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with him over the summer months watching/listening to him teach my daughter how to play. If you're reading these reviews you can stop here. Mark is the guy you want.”

“I always wanted to try scuba diving my whole life. We were so lucky to start our journey with this amazing crew. Drew was so patient with us and gave us very detailed instructions. We were afraid to look ugly underwater but Josh took good photos of us so we look so cool even on our first day of diving. Wish he came on the second day too as we were able to go deeper but the new instructor Kevin was also very helpful and friendly. He would remember all of your names and call you by your name. The only thing you need to prepare for is the swim test- we didn’t know so we ate a lot before the pool lessons, but try not to eat too much before going into the pool. And try not to go on empty stomach either because you will be in the water for 6 hours straight. You need the energy to keep it up. Overall, very satisfying experience. Can’t wait to go on a trip with them to Mexico for the actual certificate! Sammie, L and Summer”

“Both our daughters, now in elementary school, were cared for at Saint Gabriel's, and we loved it. Wonderful teachers and staff. Clean facility, great outdoor space. Healthy, safe, nurturing and loving environment for children. Age appropriate religious teachings. Just a perfect transition from home to daycare before kindergarten. And affordable!”

“Excellent instructors, solid teaching with a decidedly traditional flavor, the best workout you will get all week tempered with useful techniques and kata...I and four of my children, ages 10 to 15 are quite enjoying it, even when we feel we can't manage just one more push up...somehow the enthusiasm of the instructors is catching and we (and they) are proud of what was accomplished at the end of class. There is a separate class for younger children, and all the Senseis work hard to make sure each student is taught at their ability level. I highly recommend this Dojo.”

“Amazing indoor sports complex that has reasonably priced services and contract plans for both long-term or day by day usage! It's clean, comfortable, and has nice staff and amenities, including an indoor rock wall, gym, NinjaWarrior training apparati, self-contained 3 story padded playground complex, along with several outdoor sports fields, courts, and playground! A fantastic outing for the whole family; I highly recommend checking it out if in the area!”

“I started at VAA in 8th grade in 2016. Based on my experience I’d give this school a pretty good review. Here are the pros and cons of Virginia academy Pros: 1.Good teachers. The teachers at Virginia academy are very kind and helpful. I believe that for the most part they care strongly for your education. Our principal mr. feathers is awesome and he truly shows that he cares about our students 2. Good environment. If you’re looking to escape a very crowed environment like public school, VAA is the place. At VAA classrooms are smaller so you have a better opportunity to participate in classes. You also get to know most people in the school since the upper school only has around 200 kids. 3. Kind students. For the most part, students at VAA were kind and fun to be around. I got to meet some of my closest friends from VAA that I still talk to today. Now for the cons 1. No AP classes. This school has no AP classes, instead they have online dual enrollment. For me it is harder to learn online. I think that having AP classes would make everything simpler rather than learning things online. Those are my pros and cons. I hope you consider VAA if you think it is the school for you. It isn’t for everybody. However if you’re dealing with public school issues like big crowds and poor academics, VAA is for you. For everyone else that is succeeding in public school, I recommend staying there if you think it’s the right fit for you”

“I loved having my son here. He went for kindergarten and half of 1st grade (We got orders and had to move to Florida :(...) In kinder my son had Mrs. Sander and Mrs. Birchfield. He loved them both. They were both great. For his half of 1st grade, he had Mrs. Wallen. She was so nice to my son. If we still lived in Chesapeake, my son would still be in Mrs.Wallens class. The only complaint I would have is, the shortage of bus drivers.. but it's not the schools fault. We had an extremely prompt bus driver at first, then he quit for what ever reason... We lived in Seminole Park. It took awhile to get another, and they overloaded buses, until finally we had a stable one again. And she was great.”

“Where do I begin?! Wonderful and caring staff! I came to Mrs. Marlene in dire need for a [safe] and happy place for my son. His previous school was not a great fit, however, Mrs. Marlene & Mrs. Monica made room for us and took care of my son’s emotional needs. Over the course of 5 months, my son would run away from the front door of his previous school BUT by the FOURTH DAY at Strong Academy (a short adjustment period), my son ran away from me and straight into the class! Our family is now at ease each day and we are grateful for the opportunity to send our son there!”

“I have 2 children at BA and feel they are both on the right path in order to be prepared for college and beyond. The classes are challenging and the teachers are engaging. My children are happy in school and enjoy their classes. I am also a BA graduate ('96) and teach in the upper school. I am so proud to be part of the BA community and for my children to have the opportunity to experience such a great learning environment on such a beautiful campus. I have no doubt that they are being very well-prepared for life after BA!”

“My sons went to this school and they excelled. Teachers were great and bus drivers couldn't read. Put a pinned note on my 5 yr old to drop him off at babysitter's address yet they dropped.him off at our home with no one there. I hope the school bus driver was fired!”

“Excellent communication, very helpful and accommodating with members and non members alike. Pleasant atmosphere to learn in with a very engaging staff when it comes to answering your questions, course registrations, and re-scheduling 's that occur from time to time due to circumstances beyond one's control. The staff is always available to assist their customers with membership issues and concerns that facilitate a positive training environment encouraging it's students to persue their goals from start to finish. Big shout out to Paul and Jennie Jameson who manage CBS Norfolk Sailtime chapter with it's dedicated Instructors and Maintenance Staff.”

“This school is fine. All the negative reviews are teens that feel they are entitled to have their every need met by every teacher. The same students that feel like the staff was unhelpful are probably the same students who crowd the hallways themselves, won't shut up when told to quiet down, and talk back to staff when they're asked to put their headphones away. The AC is fine as of writing, and both campuses are even said to be chilly by some, and this is easily handled because of the relaxed dress code that allows long sleeves and even personal sweaters. I transferred here just this year and my grades are as good as they've ever been. The teachers, or at least all the teachers I have, are helpful, supportive, nice, and are generally good at holding the attention of the class.”
