You can visit inside the museum for free on Sundays early afternoon from spring to fall. You can walk around the interesting outside of the museum all year around. The inside of the original Doty House is packed wall to wall, floor to ceiling with spectacular artifacts, tools and written material all depicting the rich history of the Miami-Erie canal.”

“Great little museum on the Seminole tribe and their history. Although very small, they did have a really cool boardwalk in the back that leads through the beautiful peaceful trees of the everglades. We were also lucky enough to experience a live festival on site where they displayed their art and dancing. Staff were very polite and friendly.”

“The owner is very nice and accommodating. It was not very big though so it was hard to pay $5 per adult to come in. I would say it's more geared towards adults but they were extremely nice to my train obsessed kids. The restored caboose is very cool.”

“Wow! We stayed here as part of our Harvest Host membership. We really did not know what to expect when we booked this great HH! I haven't been to a living history neighborhood since I was a kid and we really enjoyed it. Upon arriving we entered and received a very thorough overview of what was open and a little history of Old Salem. Purchased our tickets and set off. Make sure to arrive early as you will want to spend some time touring the homes and shops. We enjoyed the whole village even though we arrived a little late. We checked out all of the open houses and really learned a lot. Parking area was paved and not so level but the auto level was able to correct without any blocks under the jacks. We expected a little more noise for being so close to downtown but it was super quiet! When we woke up we walked through the village again and spent some time on church street exploring more of the neighborhood. We were the only ones there for the night so we had this place all to ourself. We enjoyed or stay here and will plana return trip once some of the other houses open again.”

“Found this place after searching Google for museums in the East Bay. This was close and we haven't been to this one before, so since the kids were on winter break - we checked it out. My youngest said they felt like Indiana Jones and my eldest said it's their highlight so far of winter vacation. The museum docent handed the kids a scavenger hunt based on their grade level, and it really was quite fun! I would have loved the items in the gift shop for my classroom! Such a fun, educational experience!”

“Beautiful place to visit. I can be here for a week. There is so much to see. Alas, I only had one day and tried to make the best of it. The architecture is gorgeous. Looking at the old buildings was enough for me. I will be back. So much more to do and see here. Make sure you visit Historic St Augustine.”

“The only surviving timber-framed Dutch house in Albany. Possibly the oldest surviving house in Albany! Restored with the funds and the effort from the Dutch Consulate, New York State Museum, and the Historic Albany Foundation. For what it's worth, the timber framed part has to recreated with the screen that hangs over the facade depicting its original timber-framed look.”

“This museum is way better than what I expected! Coming in, it looked small, but there as a lot to see; spent a little over an hour here.. The docent was kind to give a tour. We started with some exhibits on the outside, and then there's a 7 minute movie. From there, we winded our way through the different exhibits that represent the "river of time" and how Fountain Hills/ Arizona came to be what it is now. The exhibits were well placed and aesthetically pleasing. I enjoyed how they were interactive as well.”

“Wow! You must get a tour of this amazing gem. Museum/event center/community educuation & enrichment/art gallery. Lauren Parks was an amazing ambassador; she squeezed me & my mom in last minute before we moved my mother to Texas literally the next day (shoutout to Annie P. Clark) Amazing array of memorbilia, excellent quick film on Miles & his accomplishments as well as art gallery - do not take for granted the level of talent displayed. Beautiful grounds and love the dedication to community events & education. If you're in the Greater STL metro area you've got to put this on your list - so many amazing ragtime/blues/jazz/rock-n-roll greats have a history in the area and the work that this amazing non-profit has put into preserving this treasure is greatly appreciated. Thank you again Lauren & Annie. Sincerely, Kimberly Barnes (yep, I'm old - shared email w/ my husband who was holding down the fort here in TX while I helped my Mom move closer to us)”
