“This is a really neat view. When you enter the park, go the to zoo and turn left, this road will take you to the parking lot just below the Hole in the Rock. It is a circular trail that goes behind the rock and brings you up in back. It really is only a 5 minute walk. There is no handicapped access. If you use a cane allow a bit more time. We went just after school started back up and so there weren't many people there in the late morning.”

“A MUST GO attraction if you are in the Phoenix area. Gorgeous desert garden, with various plants & cacti blooming. Very interesting & educational to learn about an entirely different ecosystem. Lunch at the cafe was delightful w/ delicious salads, etc. & great service. Look for the Chihuly art glass installations in the garden around cafe. Be sure to go early, take hats, sunblock & water if there during heat.”

“The park consists of 2 sections. The first is the grassy area. it has a small concrete sidewalk loop that goes around the area that takes probably 10 or so minutes to finish. They also have a nice sand volleyball court and tennis court. The bathrooms were locked in the morning when I came... around 7 am. The second section is the canal trail that you can access by taking the stairs. The trail extends on for quite a bit either way you go- left or right. Ran into quite a few joggers trying to beat the morning heat. The canal follows and is right next to the main road. Water is calm and views are nice in the morning. Wouldn't want to be stuck out there though when the sun fully comes out though- no shade.”

“Great place to hike with diverse trails for the beginner to the intermediate level. Some of the best scenery of the Phoenix valley can be seen from here. Theres bathrooms and the trails connecting from North Mountain all the way to Camelback make it some of the best in the city.”

“My family and I really liked hiking here. Even my 4 year old daughter loved hiking here. It was so fun climbing up those mountains with my family. Stay on the trails though. I noticed some people had veered off and partied a little.. It was a great place with plenty of outdoors environments to enjoy. Definitely felt like freedom out there. I even saw a coyote in the distance which was really awesome. I always saw rabbits, quail, lizards, and adorable ground squirrels, so it was very fun being close to nature.”

“Visiting from California. We hiked the Voaz trail today. What a beautiful Arizona hike. You can get to the Voaz trail from several different ways as there is a large network of trails all around the Phoenix Nature Preserve that connect. The trail is well maintained and when we were there today, Saturday, there were quite a few hikers and a couple of mountain bikers using the trail. The trail is a solid moderate. Voaz trail makes a loop up and through the peaks of the preserve. We also took an access trail to one of the peaks where we sat and had lunch. It’s a bit of a scramble, but doable. Wear sturdy shoes as the trail is rocky and bring plenty of water. You’re in full sun the entire time. Our hike today was 4 miles with 1,000 feet of elevation gain.”

“Hiked up from the trailhead this morning. Bring at least 1/2 gallon of water per person if you’re doing it during the summer and start early in the morning. I only brought about a quart and was really hurting on the way down. Especially on the lower parts where the sun is pounding you and it’s way hotter than the summit. View from the top is spectacular and the other hikers were friendly. In general I would not recommend coming to Phoenix in July. It’s just too hot.”

“Lovely hike, definitely difficult but well worth the effort. Need proper shoes and enough water if hiking in summer. Short, took me hour and half or 2 hrs to complete it. Gorgeous view!!!”

“Come early and bring plenty of water we got here at 6 am and it was already fairly crowded. There are several places you can rest on the way up, take your time because, the summit his very much worth the long steep hike up. I definitely do not recommend taking young children or pets. This is a double black diamond rated hike so take it seriously. Take your time you'll definitely be rewarded when you reach the top”

“Beautiful hike that’s like doing a stair master. Do this early in the day as there is little shade. Bring plenty of water and don’t venture off the trail.”

“The Summit Trail isn't the easiest hike, but it's worth it, even if you don't reach the tippy top. I took my time on a sweet 60 degree December day, and just soaked in the the views while looking for good camera angles. It is a popular trail that can get busy, so if you're slower like me, try to stay out of the way of all the people that will be passing you.”

“I found this viewpoint randomly after not finding parking at a nearby trail. I was not underwhelmed! Phoenix city viewpoint offers a stunning view of downtown, as well as a variety of hiking trails. Trail 8 includes an easy 1-2 mile loop if you start at the overlook. Be sure not to park in the no parking zones on the hill. They are clearly marked.”

“This park is located in a very nice neighborhood. It is so calm and people are so friendly there. I can go at 9 pm and I know it is safe there. At night you will see the rabbits all around the park, fishermen fishing and a beautiful sky full of stars. It is so worth going here. I love it.”
