“A pretty place to visit. This property is part of the State Park system, and we were surprised to stumble on it. A former resort hotel, this property was reached by a small gauge railroad. Hiking trails with interpretive signage cris-cross the steeply inclining property. Great views of the bay below. Plenty of parking.”

“Very convenient and nice place to stay in Point Reyes. Owner was very pleasant and welcoming when I arrived. Room was clean, quiet, and cozy. I would recommend this place to singles and couples looking for a "base" while exploring the beach and Marin around Point Reyes.”

The Blackthorne

Address: 266 Vallejo Ave, Point Reyes Station, CA 94956, USA

Lodging

“I used to have all types of fun at this place! Me and a few friends would rent the joint and then invite people for a barbecue donations optional. The barbecue would pay for the weekend stay. We would run folks off before the debauchery got out of hand, and there was always a few ladies who were buzzed and needed to stay, for their own safety. ???? I thought it was purchased by a private owner with intentions of calling it ????. ????????‍♂ I need to celebrate something so I have an excuse to return.”

“Wonderful! This is a quiet retreat space with many reasonably priced rooms. We enjoyed a singing retreat together. The large kitchen was perfect for our meal prep. We had the choice of several rooms to meet and sing. Nearby beaches and bay. Walks up the hill were lovely.”

Sea Star Cottage

Address: 12854 Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Inverness, CA 94937, USA

“If I could give this six stars, I would do so without hesitation. Beautifully finished, with just the right mix of rustic, charming and relaxing. The kitchen is nicely and not garishly appointed, with all that we needed. The shower is thoughtfully functional, yet continues the “rustic” with a tile perfectly matching the rest of this exceptional little home. And the views out over Tomales bay are simply magnificent. We just wanted a few relaxing days away from bustling (!) Mill Valley. Perfect for any couple!”

Motel Inverness

Address: 12718 Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Inverness, CA 94937, USA

Lodging

“We stayed at Motel Inverness in the Lodge room. The motel is very well located, very close to all Point Reyes trails. The room itself is basic and small but you have access to a common living area with a fireplace and a pool table, and a big patio with an amazing view on the wetland — perfect setup for an early (or late) breakfast. The motel, while on Francis Drake, is quiet (you may need to remind your neighbors that the walls are very thin though).”

Coast Campground

Address: Point Reyes Station, CA 94956, USA

“Beautiful hike or bicycle ride to Coast Camp at the Point Reyes National Seashore. Park at the hostel for either the 2 mi hike or 3 mile bike ride. Although just a few sights have distant ocean views, the lovely sound of the waves on the shore can be heard from all campsites. Enclosed pit toilets, picnic table, small raised cooking grill, metal bear box, and accessible potable running water are all closeby. Bring steel wool to stuff in holes in food locker to keep mice out.”

Americas Best Value Inn

“These negative reviews about the conditions are from people who haven't experienced their newly updated rooms. New ac/Heater units, new memory foam beds, hardwood floors in some rooms. Our room had carpet but it was slightly wet when we arrived and smelled like it had just been steamed cleaned. I was scared at first because of how cheap it was but my fiance assured me that in recent months the hotel was filling up so fast because they have been working on beautifying/improving the quality of the place. To my surprise, the bed was 4 star hotel quality and in the morning it had was hard to get out of bed... I was soo comfortable! The mattress was this body hugging memory foam!? and even had a soft blanket and mattress pad! I'm used to springy, back pain inducing mattresses where if my 300lb fiance gets up, I'm bouncing up in down with his every movement, but with the memory foam, there was no motion transfer and I was able to get a good night's sleep. Our room was 209,right in front of the elevator but we didn't hear any other guests moving about our whole time there. One negative thing though is the location - between a highway and railroad. So I could see how some guests could be sensitive to car sounds all night. I only heard the train 4 times my whole stay, and it passes fairly quickly and quietly with little to no vibrations, so it didn't wake either of us up! They didn't sound the horn either, we only heard the bells. Breakfast included what looked like Costco muffins, cereal, and fruit juices. The lady who checked us in was very attentive and helpful when it came to answering our many questions. You do have to check out an iron from the front since people like to steal things. The ice machine is 25cents. There is a treadmill and elliptical as well as a tiny hot tub. The parking lot had a lot of trash, but there was someone sweeping. Overall you it's an old hotel, and that shows in the details, but we got the best nights sleep here out of any other cheap hotel. There is an effort going on to further beautify and update the place, so it's nice to see things will get better from here on. I will definitely recommend this location to others if given the chance, unless they're addicted to smoking!”

“This old building probably built ca 1880 is great place to enjoy a cold beer at "turn-of century" wood carved bar after Point Reyes NP visit including 400 steps down to lighthouse whale watching and/or fun hike to Chimney Rock after checking out Elephant Seal Overlook. Stove in bar area is great if have just done hike in cold fog as is often the case in winter. Check out the old silver cash register. Local Boone Amber ale is my favorite.”

“Great location... Private, peaceful views from the windows, the pond creek and wetland on property, yet also only minutes to town/dinner. Also close to many hikes and beach access. Check-in was as simple as it gets. Fresh local bakery bread was waiting in our room for breakfast. The host went out of his way to be accomodating to personal needs, running to the bakery in the AM to accomodate my need to eat only GF (the local GF muffins were wonderful!!). Was the perfect place for a mini Mom-vacation w/my friend!”
