“Great small park. Good for when you don't want to trek to a huge park and be over run by people. Bigger kids play lot is separate from little ones play lot, so bonus points for that. Nice shady grassy knoll for picnics and trees for climbing.”

Sea Lion Overlook

Address: 16375 Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Inverness, CA 94937, USA

Park

“It's just a view point on the way. There is a little space to pull over your car and walk down the stairs to view the seal lions below on the rocks. It's too far away for a clear view with naked eyes. I could see only 2 sea lions with a binocular. There is a bench to spend some time admiring the view. But I didn't see any trail going down. Maybe it was temporarily closed. You can take a chance here, but overall not very impressive for viewing sea lions.”

Muir Woods

“Gorgeous. Peaceful. Serene. Magical. Quiet. Living. A call back to ages past when peoples' lives were shaped around the movements of the golden sphere above and the wooden beasts below instead of around the ever-tightening shackles of the silicon idol. The trees and greenery in general are beautiful. You can take a stroller on a simple walk or go on a more difficult hike.”

“The end to Tomales Point Trail. When the marine layer clears you can see more clearly the Pacific Ocean and the other side of Tomales Bay. The trek here is 4.7 miles one way but you'll see Tule Elk and Wildflowers along the way. Bring an extra pair of socks for those accidental slips in the mud puddles on trail.”

Lawson's Landing

Campground Park Lodging

“I can't believe I'm giving 5 stars to a campground in the middle of a cow pasture! Nevertheless, this is a fantastic place to camp with a group. Once you het past the cow patties, you realize you're just hundreds of feet from the Pacific and its glory. The wide beach is perfect for jogging or exploring, and is accessed through the grassy sand dunes, so rare on the west coast. On the other side of the pasture is a huge, looming sand mountain. It's incredible to climb to the top and roll or run down. Bring snowboards and sleds for a thrill. Be prepared for the likelihood of chilly winds, no matter the inland weather. Overall, a wonderful family getaway.”
