“Great place, everything we needed in the kitchen, nice patio, steps from pool and tennis. Only tiny complaint pool was very cold, but it looked like there was solar panels... great host. Great location for town and hiking”

“A simple but lovely place to stay with all the essentials. The lack of a TV is also appreciated. The hospitality is also great. There is a pool, BBQ pit, and outdoor chairs and tables for relaxing, so there is nothing lacking.”

“I had a wonderful girls trip to the Borrego Valley Inn. We loved the fireplace in our room and watching the stars from the hot tub. The rooms were modern and comfortable. I loved the how quiet the area was. We were able to walk to restaurants and we were close to many great hiking locations in Anza Borrego! We will definitely return.”

La Casa del Zorro Resort & Spa

Address: 3845 Yaqui Pass Rd, Borrego Springs, CA 92004, USA

Lodging

“Overall I loved my stay here, it was very peaceful and rejuvenating. It was like staying in a rustic desert inn with spa features. I wound up getting a Casita with a private jacuzzi, which was so nice! I loved having it all to myself and it was very privately walled off from other guests. It was about 120 degrees f outside so it was literally like being in a sauna, so I had the heat turned off but I still loved it. Because it's so hot the resort is mostly empty this time of year. I also had the main pool to myself at night. I got a hot and cold stone massage which was divine, and the restaurant food was very good. The room itself was clean and comfortable, though it was definitely rustic and dated in design. Plus there were a couple big dead bugs in it. Great water pressure in the shower though! The restaurant was only open for breakfast and dinner, but they have a little store that stays open so you can get food there any time. The resort is in the middle of nowhere so I didn't try leaving the resort to get lunch. Because it was the off season for this location it was affordable and overall really good value for the money.”

“The pool is a delight and although outside it was 111° the room was cool and comfy. The location is perfect and they were animal friendly so having my little 15 year old toothless dog with me there was a dream. It was a great stay. The only thing I'd say is as a woman traveling alone, after 11pm they shut all the lights off so it gets pretty dark. Sharing so you're aware and can plan accordingly.”

“This is a classic mid century desert motel. It is cinder block construction with a shed roof. It is covered in solar panels. The interior walls are white painted cinder blocks but there are newer, colorful southwestern style art, bedspreads, curtains etc. There is a small kitchen with 2 electric elements, microwave, fridge, sink, cooking and serving utensils, plates etc. Cooked 3 simple meals, turned out well. There's a back door off kitchen that opens to a clear area bordered by a hedge. Has a table and chairs for outdoor dining and there is a bbq available. Has a very clean and well maintained pool and spa. Area has amazing sunsets. If you like old architecture, comfort and quiet plus a kitchen, this is it, we loved it.”

Anza Borrego State Park

“Very clean and comfortable campsite. Sites don’t feel too close together and it’s very close to the palm canyon hiking trail. Lots of huge hills to climb nearby too. Try to come here during the spring or fall. The bathroom and showers are always clean when I’ve camped here. Its also within a very close distance to the town nearby. Great site to stay at for a desert hiking/rock climbing weekend.”
