“Laura is both an amazing artist and a beautiful soul. A small group of strangers met at a support rally for Ukraine and within 3 weeks pulled together a fundraising event that would show the beautiful aspects of Ukrainian culture and raise money for humanitarian relief. I reached out to Laura 2 weeks in advance of the event to ask if she would join the fundraiser and help to weave Ukrainian flower crowns (Vinoks) for the women and children at the event, the vinok is a very important part of our culture. Laura agreed immediately, within a few days had 5 helpers that were all volunteering their time to harvest the flowers from the Swallows Secret Garden and putting in the time to practice and perfect the Vinok weaving techniques! They even had info sheets at their work station that explained the history and meaning of each component of the vinok, the dedication! We did not expect the massive attendance that we got, but Laura and her team did an amazing job weaving all day until the supplies ran out! I am totally blown away by the amazing ladies of the Secret Garden, these were the most beautiful Vinoks I have ever seen in my life. The level of detail, perfection and generosity is mind blowing, meanwhile all of the proceeds were donated to the fundraiser. On that amazing event on Sunday at Hallcrest Vineyards, we had little kids running happily around with their flower crowns as well adults that during such a difficult time, had the chance to fall in love with the beautiful story of vinoks and feel like kids once again. Thank you Laura and team for your hard work, with actions like these we can change the world!”

“During this Covid-19 pandemic, the church meets for Sunday worship virtually via Zoom. They are very welcoming and will email the link to attend if you call the church to ask. The Zoom services include lots of music by the local community, time for prayer, silent meditation, and sharing of joys and concerns. Pastor Jane is well aware of people's need for connection during Covid. Her sermons often address our current social and emotional issues, woven in with a biblical text, creating a story and message that resonates with our needs today. I highly recommend attending! “I was having a pretty miserable day and they straightened everything right out. I drove over a board with a nail in it at the dump in a rental truck and the tire went flat pretty much immediately. None of the tools were in the truck so I had no jack and couldn't remove the spare. Did a quick patch, limped it to Ernie's, and Ryan was able to get the spare out of there, swapped it on, and topped all four wheels off with air. Saved me hours of waiting for a tow. I'll be returning here the next time I need maintenance.”

“New Brighton Beach is a state park with campsite that range from basic to full hook ups. We had full hook ups with a very level spot. Access to the beach is available via trail or a short drive to the lower parking lot. The beach wasn't that great as it was packed and the water is not the cleanest on the west coast. But you are super close to Capitola or Santa Cruz so your options are vast. And obviously trails for various activities are abundant in the area. But we made the best of and had fun. Kids rode bikes around with no problems and plenty of other kids. Showers were clean and just like any other place needs quarters. Overall we will probably head back one day.”

“I like coming here. The man with the white hair is a blast. He does not suffer fools gladly, ( he doesn't put up with stupidity). They allow you on the dock and encourage it. Been there twice now, I only caution you, the parking for us old dudes is no problem. You guys that park with your truck at a 90° angle, you better bring your A game, because that isn't going to work here. As you can see in the photo attached, you can screw up here. The docks look incredibly tight. For you, they may seem that way.”
