“I just love our little Library. Steve and Colleen are awesome. I go in and check out books but I also use the computer and the printer. Today they were preparing to do crafts with area students/children, making ghosts out of toilet paper tubes. There's always something going on or to get involved in at our library.”

“I absolutely adore this little library and the staff who keep it going! My kiddos always look forward to going and there are often even little events, crafts and activities for them to participate in. If they don't have a book I want they always help me figure out how to get it! Thank you for all you do for the community ♡”

“Beautiful building and gardens surrounding. I went to visit the interiors but it was closed for a special occasion and it seems that you need an appointment. The website isn’t that informative for visitors but I would like to return.”

“This is such a cute little library. Very warm and cozy, with a fireplace and comfortable seating. Sweet little area for children and a nice ,"friends of the library shop". The librarian gave us a quick tour. She was very kind and knowledgeable.”

“Very friendly librarians. There is a small selection here and the library itself is pretty small. There are a few tables to work at if you wanted to work remotely or study. The place looked a bit dated but overall clean and well kept. Finding it during it construction is a bit tricky but just follow the signs in the city hall parking lot.”

“I love the library! The staff here is amazing. They remember our names and are always suggesting ideas for new stuff to borrow. Pick up for books and materials is a breeze. Just go to the library website, select the stuff you want to put on hold, and when it's ready, you park at the library, text the number posted outside, and they bring it out to the table. They have free garden seeds available on the pickup table. I highly suggest the "personal shopper" option on their website. Based on your borrowing history, the staff will grab a bunch of stuff that they think you will like. Love this place! :)”

“In response to the one-star review: "Don’t believe their hours. I walked in at 5:45 and a librarian immediately walked in front of me and locked the restroom doors." The hours of the library are 10-6, the bathrooms lock before because the staff want to go home and can't wait for everyone to use the restroom. You are welcome to come in and use the restroom when they are open before closing. "I’m not an unhoused person, just a local toddler mom and full time public service employee getting off work with a very urgent need to go pee hoping to trip link with returning my kids books on my way home from a 12 hour work day." It doesn't matter if you're unhoused or not, they have closing schedules because people need to go home to their own families. They are not a restroom service, they're a library. "I said it was an emergency. No remorse. I know public service is hard, but kindness and customer service should still be a thing." Asking public service workers to give YOU a break because you're not unhoused, asking them to spend time they need to be doing their job standing and waiting for you to use the bathroom, when they don't know you or how you're going to act, is not a kindness to them. Go to Safeway. Signed, A former customer service worker at an establishment with a public restroom.”

“I can say this library is my number one. It has plenty of nice spots for studying for adults and kids." "There are two rooms for group study, which you can reserve in advance." "The atmosphere is clean and pleasant." "The restrooms are also clean, which caught my attention when compared to other libraries." Furthermore, the library is open on Sundays(12-5). I wish they could expand their opening hours because I really enjoy spending my weekends there studying.”

“By far the most aesthetically beautiful public library in this area in terms of location + interior design (Mill Valley, Mountain View, Los Gatos, Saratoga, Burlingame, Rinconada, Los Altos, Cupertino, and San Mateo are close contenders). The interior is lined with beautiful wood and garnished with chairs designed by established firms/designers such as Fritz Hansen and Design Within Reach. This is literally the most beautiful contemporary interior design of a library I’ve ever seen on the west coast, you have to see it to believe it. Great location, extremely friendly and helpful staff, and not a lot of people traversing through this area - ideal for peaceful studying and work for professionals who need a break from coffee shops (like myself). Thank you to all of the library staff, donors, community members, and friends of the Atherton Library for making this incredible library possible, I’m grateful for your hard work and giving spirit to make this a safe place for all of the Bay Area community to enjoy.”

“This library is one of the best I've been to in a while. They are always so friendly and helpful. I always feel comfortable here.”

“This is a small gem of a library, tucked away from the through travel routes so that it takes a bit of a detour to visit if you're not a local. Architecturally it's pretty much your standard-issue small rural public library, but when you realize that this 2500 square-foot building replaced a former library about the size of Thoreau's cabin after the community pulled together to help fund it in the 1980s-90s, it becomes more impressive. (The old building was moved to the new library site from its original location and now serves to house the weekly Friends of the Library book sales.) There's a ramada surrounded by a native-plant garden with great views of the Cuyamaca Mountains, there's free wi-fi if you need it, and judging from how busy it was the last time I stayed in Descanso, it's doing a good job of serving its consituents.”

“SJPL is generally a great library system, and this branch, in particular, is really amazing. You can, of course, order items from throughout the system. Given that context, I think their in-branch selection makes a ton of sense and is very space-efficient. They certainly do have a large selection of English-language items, but they also have lots of Vietnanese, Spanish, and Chinese catering to the local population. They also have a large kid selection, as well as dedicated toys, play areas, and touch screens for using the provided ABCmouse membership. I really like that they have a variety of computer stations for different needs. They offer a lot of community services like events, training, etc. My only gripe is that the last time I went, the computers were cutting out every half hour or so, forcing people to log back in. It was pretty annoying, but I'm hoping that's not normal and can be addressed.”

“This branch of OC Public Library is located between an elementary school and middle school. You'll need to climb upstairs to get to the library. It's typically noisy due to the little ones learning, but there are areas where it is a bit quieter for studying. I saw a manga section for teens, literature from several languages, and a large section for the elementary students to scavenge to get to know the library's structure.”

“Our new Felton branch is a lovely building with a wonderful atmosphere for reading or just browsing books. The librarians are helpful and the collection is tantalizing. I also enjoy scanning the sale books from the Friends of the SC Library that are usually on display at the entrance. Great contribution to our otherwise sleepy little town!”
