“Love this place!! I’ve been taking Muay Thai classes and they are exactly what I was looking for. I always leave class feeling I’ve had a great workout. It’s intensive but adjustable to your own level of comfort, so anyone could do it! I also appreciate the focus on hitting the training pads and only light contact sparring. Alan, Cheryl, and Liam are also the best. Great teachers and make the place feel like home!”

“Can't say enough good things about this place. Creative workouts (we never do the same thing twice), friendly clients and awesome trainers. During the early stages of the pandemic, owner Shawn Huber made additional investments so we could safely have classes outside. As it got colder, he did what he had to do to ensure it was safe to hold classes indoor. The gym is exceptionally clean and well spaced out so while you get a great workout, you feel safe doing it. If you are looking for a place that will challenge you and also provide a fun and friendly place to workout, check this place out. You will not be disappointed.”

“SEFCU gym is decent for the free gym for UAlbany students. However, machines are often OOO and rather than fixing it, they just put up tape for months and eventually bin the machine. The weights on the new bench press also don’t match the current weights. They need to fix their broken mirrors and clear out the vents because there’s very visible dust on all the vents. Also, poor ventilation / no fans to help facilitate airflow.”

“I was in town for work and dropped in to train and was appreciative of the great instruction from the Professors. They highlighted some key details for moves I have been struggling with. My training partners were great to work with and helped ensure we worked through the moves in a way that helped me better understand some of the key elements.”

“What a wonderful class Gentle Yoga with Nicole was. It’s not my first time and it won’t be my last. Nicole is a fantastic teacher, intuitive in her approach as she guides us to position our bodies to open up, become more flexible and melt into the mat. I would recommend Nicole’s classes to anyone.”

Coach Curtis truly cares about each and every person that steps through those doors and wants to help you reach your goals and you feel that immediately when joining! The workouts are challenging, fun and coach Curtis does a wonderful job of explaining the why behind each exercise/movement we do. I highly recommend BreakThru for anyone who is on their fitness/health journey and you’ll have a team full of people supporting and encouraging you every step of the way!”

“Judy helped me on my road to recovery after a bad crash last year. I have hit weight loss goals, returned to my desired level of fitness and have hit milestones / PR's on the bike. She has helped me recognize my strengths and deficiencies, which have been key to the success I've had the last 10 months.”

“First let me say that I am a person with like 3 or four gym memberships. However, The Sweat Spot has changed my perspective on what it means to get a quick, effective workout. With magnificent coaches who are dedicated to their craft and are SO attentive to making sure that the workouts are accessible to all fitness levels, Sweat Spot is the place to be. The coaches meet you where you are every single day and are wholly invested in your development and growth as an athlete—which I really appreciate. I don’t know how they do it, but they are laser focused to make sure that all members have correct form to prevent injury and promote safety every time they coach a class. Additionally, no two days are ever there sane at the Sweat Spot, so you can always be sure that you’ll partake in a challenging interval workout like none other no matter what day you choose to attend. My personal favorite day is the Sprint Day!! So 1000% check it out. Also: you can workout in socks…which I love so much. Changes the lifting game for sure.”

“My children have been dancing and doing gymnastics at Spendwood for 12 years. Everyone is very welcoming and kind. There is no discrimination whatsoever. My daughter often tells me the girls on her dance team are a second family to her. She has met some of her best friends on the team. She absolutely adores Jillian and the other teachers at Spendwood and loves to work with them. Spendwood has become a second home to my oldest daughter. She spends at least 10 hours at the studio every week. My family really likes how many different classes they offer. There are classes in multiple dance genres, strengthening & stretching classes, gymnastics and tumbling. There is something for everyone. Spendwood has a great dance team but also amazing classes for recreational dancers. I love that the emphasis is on the love of dance and not solely focused on competition. All are welcome here.”

“The gym is clean, well stocked with equipment and has a great staff. I am currently working in a small group lead by Justin, and he's fantastic! We're all at different fitness levels, and he plans our sessions with each one of us in mind. He thoughtfully plans so everyone is accommodated in a way that brings maximum benefit for all and meets each of us where we're at. He's encouraging without coddling. I'm accomplishing things I had no idea I could do! Reasonably priced as well. Highly recommend.”

“This gym is an amazing hidden gem in downtown Albany. Bryan, the trainer who runs it, is friendly and knowledgeable and has mentored me for over a decade now. You can workout solo or utilize Bryan or one of the other trainers. The place has a great feel, friendly people, flexible hours, plenty of space and equipment, fitness classes, and a convenient locker room with showers... everything I need. Somehow it stays very reasonably priced and is never too busy. My workouts there are the highpoints of my day. Can't recommend the place enough. With all the fitness centers that have come and gone, I'm glad this one has stayed around.”

“Nuhar is a gifted and extremely knowledgeable physical therapist/ Pilates instructor . She has a remarkable ability to individualize instruction while leading a class and knows what exercise or stretch will help advance people and / or alleviate pain or discomfort . She is thoughtful about participants’ situations and works to find “ the right” approach. My heretofore chronic back pain is a thing of the past . I couldn’t be more grateful”

“I paid to enjoy the amenities for the morning of my 29th birthday and it was worth the 60 bucks! I had never been to a spa before. It was so relaxing, the people were so nice, the robes went up to a 4x I believe and for that price you can stay there all day. My favorite part was the relaxation room. It was peaceful. I laid there and put on a nice lil sheet mask that i brought with me and some eye patches and meditated and manifested a great 29th year of life.”

“Fun. Kids love it. Very basic idea and layout, but does the job. Has multiple areas to work on skills, play. Staff was fun and engaging with the kids. Open gym experience - There is no (or none enforced) restrictions to who and what age play where at any given time. So play at your own risk. Bathrooms are easy to access. Fun tea shirts. Great news wall of their pupils' achievements. Fun party space too.”

“I was a beginner to any kind of fitness. And I made the best decision to join Albany CrossFit. Coaches taught the fundamentals of CrossFit, posture and basic nutrition which I was never aware of. Coaches were aware of my fitness level and adjusted my workout movement accordingly. Definitely reached my fitness goal. I also enjoyed occasional yoga and squash sessions. Love the gym overall.”

“This place perfectly meets the needs of families right now! It provides a small, safe spot for women to work remotely while their children participate in high-quality programming - for pre-schoolers and school-age kids. The space is beautiful - 4 floors in a gorgeous older building renovated with no expense spared. Each floor is bright, with a kitchen and bathroom, and well-equipped. COVID-safe: Similar concept to a learning pod with limited interactions Advance sign-up required Temperature checks and masks required Air filtration systems on each floor Frequent cleaning with specifically-chosen sanitizers Ample hand sanitizer Shoe free space for young children 4 floors with doors for more limited interaction I feel very safe and secure here, and so does my niece. She loves all the developmentally appropriate toys, stories, and art. I highly recommend this space.”
