It’s intensive but adjustable to your own level of comfort, so anyone could do it! I also appreciate the focus on hitting the training pads and only light contact sparring. “This gym is an amazing hidden gem in downtown Albany. Bryan, the trainer who runs it, is friendly and knowledgeable and has mentored me for over a decade now. You can workout solo or utilize Bryan or one of the other trainers. The place has a great feel, friendly people, flexible hours, plenty of space and equipment, fitness classes, and a convenient locker room with showers... everything I need. Somehow it stays very reasonably priced and is never too busy. My workouts there are the highpoints of my day. Can't recommend the place enough. With all the fitness centers that have come and gone, I'm glad this one has stayed around.”

“Fun. Kids love it. Very basic idea and layout, but does the job. Has multiple areas to work on skills, play. Staff was fun and engaging with the kids. Open gym experience - There is no (or none enforced) restrictions to who and what age play where at any given time. So play at your own risk. Bathrooms are easy to access. Fun tea shirts. Great news wall of their pupils' achievements. Fun party space too.”

“Great experience! I called and mentioned it was my first time; Nicole told me to remember a water bottle and that there was a Bluetooth speaker if I wanted to bring my own music. The business is attached to a hair salon and nail salon, you walk through them to get to the dance studio. Good variety of yoga mats, weights and basic workout equipment for stretching, a bar, and of course the gorgeous floor to ceiling mirrors and poles. I felt so refreshed after a great workout! The decor is really cute too. I can’t wait to go back.”

“We searched extensively for a kickboxing class for our 13-year-old son for fitness and confidence-building. What a joy it was to find Empire Defense and Fitness! They’re a family-owned and operated business and are super-friendly and welcoming. They know all of their students’ names and greet them on arrival. Their facility is immaculate. Their rates are very reasonable. The classes are quite a workout. Everyone leaves with a sweat—even me and I’m just watching! I like the flexibility of a month-to-month plan rather than being locked in for a year-long commitment. Highly recommend this business and hope they’re around for a long time.”
