Overflow Campground

Address: Stubblefield Lake Rd, Huntsville, TX 77340, USA

“Primitive camping in Sam Houston National Forest. Easy access to fishing along West Fork of San Jacinto River just down road. No restrooms or trash cans, except during hunting season when it functions as a Hunter's Camp. Take your trash home and be respectful of other campers. The Lone Star Hiking Trail can be found across Stubblefield Lake Road at the Hiker Trail sign and is marked with white rectangular metal marker on trees. Please pick up your trash and take it with you. Volunteers who pick up litter would rather be doing wood-working projects like building benches, repairing kiosk, and building signs.”

“Was very close to road such that in the morning you wake up to cars on the road. But that's because of hunting season. I hear it's "free real-estate" at other times....to make the lightsaber, you need the focusable flashlight. set up a smoky fire and sharpen the beam of your flashlight. Point into smoke and voila!”

“Little Pond Trail is one of the three Pines at Kelly's pond in the Sam Houston National Forest the trail is very thick and hard to walk through Forest Service hasn't maintained trails since Obama shut down the national forests about 8 years ago shortly after he come in the office and they haven't really established opening up all the trails. Hopefully they'll get a budget back pretty soon and start doing the National Forest in the Forest Trails upkeep like they used to.”

“Always a great week of relaxing and nature. The host are helpful, checking with us daily to make sure our stay is everything we expect. This is mainly a great place to fish and the boat launch is one of the best on the lake. Recent burn makes it look bare, but the new growth is already turning green.”
