“Really nice DoorDash experience - (1.) Each dish I ordered was delicious. (2.) Temperature was phenomenal. Cozy warm comfort food instead of that weirdly uncomfortable zone of "not technically cold but every bite makes you stop and wonder if you should get up and put it in the microwave." (3.) Portion sizes met or exceeded what I expected just from passively absorbing the material on the menu. No fine print no gotchas. Entree was a standard size, lo mein came in one of those red and white boxes, soup came in one of those big plastic take out canisters the size of a ball canning jar, appetizer specified in the title exactly how many you would get. (4.) My price per person entry is definitely one of the higher ones, but I did intentionally get a lot so I would have convenient leftovers for a few days.”

One negative about this particular visit is that the drive thru person who hands you your food said NOTHING and just handed me a bag. No smile. No personality. No service. “This place is probably my favorite places I have ate in Newport News. My husband is from Newport News and his family is Still around here. We were visiting from Arizona. The food was amazing. The service was great. The friends we were with raved about how much they loved Angelo's. The hambu steak was great! Their french fries have been amazing in the past, although the flavor was good they were a bit cold coming out this time. I will definitely return to Angelo's.”

“It took us forever to go to this place because of what it looks like from the outside. I am hoping someone from management will read this, as my family said they will not be going back because of some of the issues. I absolutely loved the food and service. My DD ordered the country fried steak breakfast and I ordered the ribeye breakfast. Both very well cooked and tasty. The price is outstanding. The waitress an elderly lady was slow but accurate and friendly. Here is our issue you walk on the floor and you literally stick to the 100 year old carpet. It is that dirty and gross. The awning over the cashier is so thick with dust someone wrote on the dust and it was never cleaned. They are in NEED of a Makeover like no ones business. I hope they at least clean the floors and awnings. I don't want to think about what is going on behind the scenes. Give them a try and see for your self.”

“These ribs are different from all others I’ve eaten & reviewed (in every way but not in a bad way!).These are spare ribs and are cooked differently from the others I’ve reviewed . The server explained that these are first boiled in their spices and seasonings. Then they are put in the oven with the sauce. I requested sauce on the side. These are much larger than the baby backs. These were well seasoned and VERY tender. Due to their size, they were also very filling. The collard greens were the ABSOLUTE BEST. I had some the other day in a different restaurant that I THOUGHT were the best but these collards are even better than those!!!! In fact, they’re better than ANY I’ve had in this area inclusive of all of the soul food restaurants I’ve tried! The hush puppies were hot and fresh. The bottle of SEASONED vinegar they put on my table was exceptionally good. The sweet potato casserole was good too. The banana pudding was fair but neatly made. The restaurant and bathroom were SUPER clean and very well maintained. The staff is extremely polite, nice, helpful and clean! All servers PROPERLY wore their masks. THANK YOU Rocky Mount BBQ for excellent service and a good lunch.”
