“We had just moved here and I mean only been in Virginia not even 2 weeks when we noticed our cat was losing weight and just not looking good. I called around for hours and when I called this place and explained everything they got my in right away. Sadly we received the horrible news that our cat would need to be put down. They did offer a treatment but informed me that she wouldn’t survive it. So instead of lying to me to get me to spend $$ which I would have if she had a high chance of survival they told my the truth. I was able to bring her home and we got to spend 2 days with her before my husband and my son took her in to put her to sleep. They did wonderful. They cremated her and offered a selection of urns that we got to choose and they imprinted her paw into plaque. We got her back pretty quickly in nice velvet bag and the urn and her paw print. A week after we got her back we got sent a beautiful card signed by all the people who work their and they wrote personal messages . They also did her nose and paw print into the card which was very sweet. Thank you for being so wonderful during such a rough time.”

“The contact station has exhibits, water, bathrooms and information. It’s been closed for a few years and it’s good to see it open again. There is a big parking lot next to trails and water access for kayaking. There are beach and bay trails with informative signs. Fishing areas. Bike and hiking trails. Handicap accessible. There are plenty of flora and fauna if you know where to look. We like to bike in and explore all the way to False Cape. Access is now free if you bike or hike in. There is no swimming or fishing allowed on the beach.”
