“So grateful for these guys being here. Found a little quail fledgling at our busy hotel. There's no way mom would find him before a person or car harmed him. We were on vacation and unable to care for him ourselves. Found TWC online and they took the poor little quail baby. So relieved and grateful these guys were able to help.”

“Took a motorcycle trip through Saguaro National Park near Tucson. Got my lifetime senior citizen pass and expect to enjoy this place first. 😁 Beautiful day, 80°, clear sky. Perfect Arizona winter. 🏜 Took a bunch of pictures, while riding around on dirt roads for hours. More cactus than anywhere else I've ever been. And roadrunners. No snakes. 😆 Beautiful drive. Next: the National Park on the East side of Tucson. 👍👍”

George Mehl Family Foothills Park

Address: 4000 E River Rd, Tucson, AZ 85718, USA

Park

“I've been to this lovely quiet park a few times now. It has a few sports fields, a dog park, a cute playground, and the Tucson Girls Chorus building all in one place. The view of the mountains to the north and clear view of the desert sky. The park is very clean as I've seen workers present taking care of the park. It is near the wash so it's a great place to walk around and appreciate the desert surrounding. I come here to think, sing to myself aloud, write, and enjoy view of the mountains. One of my favorite hidden gem parks I recently rediscovered. I was visited by a red cardinal bird today. Truly a surprise as it's been a while since I've seen those beautiful red feathers. I highly recommend this park.”

Gilbert Ray Campground

Explorer Trailhead

Address: 5975 W Western Way Cir, Tucson, AZ 85713, USA

“This trail along 'first ridge' is worth the effort to be able to see the vista of the Sonoran Desert over to Kitts Peak. The National Park and Tohono O'odham reservation land protect this area from impending development. Enter the trail to the ridge from either end. Take plenty of water, hiking poles, thigh and butt muscles get a workout! Be mindful of the sun.”

Brown Mountain

Address: Tucson, AZ 85743, USA

Park

“Great place to stretch the legs and soak up some sun. Took about two and a half hours to hike the Brown Mtn loop which follows the ridge line and goes along the northeast side of the mountain. Amazing alien landscape. All the plants are way too big and could easily kill or maim you if you were to try anything funny. Giant needles for days.”

Lincoln Regional Park

Address: 4325 S Pantano Rd, Tucson, AZ 85730, USA

“Google maps is not accurate on the directions. As soon as you pull in, take the first right. Don't go straight. It's like a cul-de-sac. There's No "park " / "equipment to play on." Wear closed toe shoes, sneakers, tennis shoes etc. The wood chips vary in size and are not flip-flop friendly. Great variety of equipment. Nice shaded area.”

“The trail is nice. Signage is not always easy to see so it is not always easy to stay on the trail. Another issue to keep in mind is that taking the trail will outlet you to an alternate trail head and you cannot hike back up the road as a short cut to where you parked since there is no shoulder on the road. I had no signal on my phone so no Uber and it was dipping in to the 50s when I finished. So you will need to make the roundtrip to get back or find someone willing to drive you 10 mins back to the other trail head. Great sunset though.....”

“We stayed in the Oasis area of the campground in early April. Beautiful section with spacious, paved sites. Bathhouses we’re immaculate. Nice private bathroom with shower. We loved it here so much we booked two weeks next year. Nice dog parks; one small one large. The only problem we had is on our last night two aggressive Dalmatians who were in the dog park. The owners did not have control of them and we had to leave with our golden retriever. Otherwise it was a very nice visit.”

“This was such an amazing beach! A most see park, my suggestion if to be there really early, because the line to enter can get ridiculously long real quick. We got to the park around 9 am on a Sunday morning. There were only two cars in line. We were able to secure a really good spot on the beach for our two cars, our tent, and our grill. In this beach park you can go to the main huge beach, or go to the more mellow beach to the side, and also you can set up your camp site if you reserved the spot. We had a really great time, the weather was perfect, the water was a bit on the cold site, but that was to be expected. Not summer yet! They have a couple of portable bathrooms within 2 minutes walk from the entrance to the beach. The beach and places around are well taken cared of. You have to pay to get in, and if you are a Military Veteran, then you only pay have the price. Entrance is not very expensive (I can not remember exactly how was it was.) Also, the have food carts that come by and park by the cars for the day, so you can buy different foods here. Beautiful beach!”

Jesse Owens Park

Address: 400 S Sarnoff Dr, Tucson, AZ 85710, USA

Park

“Really nice little park. It has a pool, lots of sports fields and lots of nice little areas for birding. There are restrooms, ramadas and picnic tables. Even though there were several sports games going on and people walking dogs I was still able to bird and get some good Birds.”

Fantasy Island Mountain Bike Park (North)

Address: 9500 E Irvington Rd, Tucson, AZ 85730, USA

Park

“This was my first time here. The trails are awesome and depending on where you go provide something for everyone. I was not able to ride most of it in an hour and a half, but did make a point to ride on both the north and south sides. The south side is generally flatter with fast and flowing trails that tend to be smoother. The north side has a bit of that and a bunch of technically challanging trails that go in and out of washes to provide a good mix of up and down. Most trails are one direction to allow faster speeds without worrying about running into someone going the opposite direction. Over all this is a great place to ride regardless of your skill level. Bring plenty of water and stay hydrated.”
