The hike up the Indian Fort was only 0.3 miles but it was very steep and Rocky. So make sure you're prepared for all the ups and downs and rockiness. Everyone we ran into was really nice.”

Memorial Park

“Memorial Park is very nice. Spoonbread Festival was here weekend of September 16-28. I enjoyed the festival - lots of food booths and merchandise booths and a nice Car Show. I was here on the Sunday so I'm sure I missed a lot of fun events held on Friday and Saturday. Berea is always worth the trip. Love going to Boone Tavern Hotel to have lunch. A very nice place plus all the arts and craft stores around it on Berea College campus.”

“It's a beautiful place. Great for walking. A few ponds for bass, crappie, and channel cat. They also have a very nice archery range. The gun range is okay mainly just for siding in before season no shotguns or pistols and you got to shoot through some giant tubes but they do have markers set up for 25 50 75 and 100 yd”

“This is one of the best places for meat, particularly pork. It's always fresh, and there's good prices. Their beef is usually good, but some of it is coming from Mexico. Chicken is about the same as other places. Everyone has always extremely friendly and helpful, and I love that I can get in and get out without getting lost.”

Fort Boonesborough State Park

Address: 4375 Boonesboro Rd, Richmond, KY 40475, USA

Park

“Being a fan of living history, I was thrilled to live near the fort founded by Daniel Boone. It was one of our first explorations when we moved to KY. The buildings are fun to explore, and the people portraying life are interesting to talk to. The video in the first building, though obviously old, is fun to watch and learn about Daniel Boone. At the original fort, which is just a stone foundation, my kids would spend hours playing. The playground, though fun, was not the main attraction. Whether you want to picnic and play, or get immersed in history, Fort Boonesborough is a great place to go.”
