Gresham Portland

Winter Garden

Address: 100 SW Upper Cascade Dr, Portland, OR 97205, USA

Park

“A small corner of Portland's Hoyt Arboretum, the Winter Garden has a collection of plants and trees that are particularly showy in winter. Without leaves to block the view, the Corkscrew Filbert's twisting branches are easy to see if you know where to look. One of the parks largest Western Red Cedar trees dominates this section. Other interesting trees include the Torch Maple, that shoots its blood-red trunk from the ground, especially dramatic when it snows.”

Portland Women's Forum State Scenic Viewpoint

Address: 39210 Historic Columbia River Hwy, Corbett, OR 97019, USA

Park

“Historical value in addition to the gorgeous view. Visited in the end of June and it was stunning. What a great place to bring a camera! Perfectly quiet, sunny and no wind. View of the Vista house makes for a great photo opp. Drive safe, the road is like a coil up from I-84. As always, pack it in-pack it out. Do not leave your Starbucks cups behind (or any other trash). Marker has historical significance. (See videos).”

Wilshire Park

Address: 4116 NE 33rd Ave, Portland, OR 97212, USA

Park

“One of my favorite parks in town. Mini nature walk, children’s playground, an off-leash dog area and a soccer/baseball field. As a mom of a toddler I’m specifically interested in toddler friendly playground. My little one loves it here. It has a little sand box area and someone had a left a few toy trucks so the children can play with. I think that was my little ones favorite thing. Seems like a safe area/neighborhood , not in a busy street. We take public transportation and this park was not too far from Bus#75 ,just a few blocks.”

So many visual textures. I can imagine this being a great place for a beach day, family picnic or even a casual wedding. Parking is abundant, coastline is abundant; I’m not sure about toilets (I didn’t have to go..) but, this is absolutely going to be a place to visit all seasons of the year.”

Dabney State Recreation Area

Address: Historic Columbia River Hwy, Corbett, OR 97019, USA

Park

“Highly recommend water socks! Much of the shoreline has small/medium river rocks. Hard to walk while barefooted. Then when ya get into the water, those rocks are slimy. The river temperature was great! Cooled us off on a hot summer day. The water was a bit murky but did not smell bad. Some portions of the shore were sandy; those areas were crowded. They only negatives were some litter and loud music trying to play over each other.”

With an easy natural slope, walking to the beach was easy for him. Lots of open space for him to be him, without even disturbing the birds. Life jackets stations are a plus.✨”

Thom Park

“I walk my dog there. It's often I run into under aged stoners hiding from their parents getting high at night. Some toys for the kids as you can see in the picture but definently not some place to plan an all day event at. A couple tables and one bench. There's a doggy doo bag dispenser as you enter. Side benefit is you can cross the bridge and be on school grounds and use their young kids playground toys and 4 basketball hoops for the older kids. A track to get your exercise on as well.”

Latourell Falls

“Parking lot is free, pretty small and may be busy on weekends. There are restrooms. The closest viewpoint from parking lot is pretty steep but super short. Worth stopping there first. There is a loop BUT if you want sometime shorter, there is an in and out trial from Parking lot. Easy and worth doing at least that to get to the fall. Once down there, the fall is gorgeous. Beautiful, green lush surrounds you. The bridge is an amazing viewpoint. Perfect spot for pictures but also to stand or sit to take it all in. Recommend seeing all other falls in the area.”
