“My daughter and I went there one day and were absolutely satisfied by the food and service. We went back a second time, but after I donated plasma the first time. Unfortunately I ended up passing out at the restaurant. My husband and daughter said the service during that visit was beyond exceptional. They were very kind and helpful and got our food packed up. My daughter and I went again yesterday and still the food is so good. The Bao is the best I have ever had. I've been here three times, once ten years ago for my buddy's 21st birthday, one alone a month ago for some putting practice (now that I play golf) and a third time today. Each time the place has been consistent, I was able to bring food in from outside and relax, play golf with the kids and a date, and easily get drinks from the bar. Her pepper sauce was great and I loved the sauteed onions in oil! Perfect atthieke meal with a reasonable price! She's the goat! “Authenticity to the nines. - You don't get a menu, the keeper of the inn tells you what's available for the night. - They don't have soda pop, they have a good variety of wines, ales, meads, and spiced grape juice if you prefer something non alcoholic. - You get a number of courses during the evening. The meat and cheese and fruit plate was my personal favorite. - The deserts are not super sweat. They really cook from medieval recipes, sugar was a luxury. - The dinning room has a big open fireplace with a fire going. - The tableware is either pewter or stoneware that I imagine is made in the village. - During dinner there was a minstrel who sang three songs. All of these things add up to a very authentic experience. If you're not ready to take a step back in time and enjoy the excursion into the middle ages, maybe take a chance or take a pass. But if you are looking for a bit of fun and something other than the norm, be sure to visit. I will try to attend one of their feasts in the future, All Hallows or Yule would be fun! Update: I got to participate in their Yule feast and it was fantastic. The food was wonderful, roast onion, pears and cheese, sauced pork, almond fritters, meat pies, I'm salivating now just thinking of it all. You get a lot of food over the course of 2 hours and they had a jester and minstrels for entertainment. It's a great way to sample many dishes and enjoy a meal with friends, family, or go solo and take it all in!”
